Cabs, transportation and staying off-site

We are going to be in Orlando for just a few days in February and think there will only be time for one day at MK and one character meal. We will be staying with a relative and have some access to their car and they will do some drops offs/picks ups it but we are not planning on renting a car of our own. We plan on using a cab to get to the park and Mears to get to Universal.

The parking info says $14 for parking, is that for a cab that just pulls up and drops you off, in addition to the cab fare? Where does a cab drop you at MK? Do you still have to wait for a shuttle to take you to the front of MK? And where are cabs at the end of the night?

Can we still use WDW Transportation to go to a hotel for a character meal, Downtown Disney or parks (incase we were to add a second day/Park Hopper), even though we are not on-site guests?

Sorry so many questions, in all the times I have been to Disney we have stayed on-site so I never had to worry about it.

YOu do not pay the parking fee if you are using a cab. If you are headed to the MK, I would just take the cab to the Contemporary Resort instead. Then you can just walk over to the MK via the sidewalk..takes about 8 mins or so. Quicker than getting there from the TTC, which is where the cab will drop you.
Once you are at WDW, you are free to use any of their transportation options. That won't be an issue at all.

Awesome, that is exactly the kind of info I am looking for! That also means we will unload her (nice) stroller from the cab once, not make people on the buses irritated, stroll along the sidewalk and not have to wait in those huge lines at the end of the night.

Is there a cheat sheet somewhere here that lists these kind of secret tips for traveling around the parks?
