Good old cable TV runs $39.95 a month?????

I used to work for a cable TV company years ago and paid $8.50 a month for basic cable, $3 for additional hook-ups. I can't see $40 a month!! We won't watch TV. Haven't watched in 6 months any way.
I'm ready to change phone companies because Verizon ALWAYS has a problem with paying on their web site no matter when I want to pay!!
I've had it with them. So if I have to switch to Cox, I may as well look into cable and internet. The price is ridiculous! $102.50 a MONTH for regular cable, internet, phone, and digital cable. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. Not paying that! And that's just the basic phone included. Then it's $34.95 for some plan...paying $29.95 with Verizon. And their cheapest rate is 7 cents a minute. I pay 5 cents a minute with Verizon. Ack! No company out there has a decent deal!
