Does anyine know if you can wash a Cabbage Patch doll? My DGD dropped her doll and it was left in the driveway all night. She really needs a good "bath" but I am afraid to toss her in the washer because she is my DGD almost constant companion. Any ideas please?

Does she have yarn hair or silk hair? Mine from the 80s have the yarn hair and received the occassional bath. My mom use to place them in a pillowcase and washed them on gentle. However, one did come out with some scrapes/cuts on her nose. The look just fine otherwise.

Here's an email address for CPK. They could probably answer the question for you. HTH. sales@cabbagepatchkids.com

I don't know about the new ones, but you could wash the old ones. Just don't put them in the dryer (trust me on this, the result was not a pretty sight... :) )

Hmm, dollslaughter is more like it. I put her in the dryer for 90 minutes on high heat. My Cabbage Patch Kid looked like one of those wrinkly apple dolls when I was finished with her :)

I know the older ones could be washed by hand. I assume they still have the plastic heads and cloth bodies?

I can't top Jen's dollslaughter, but I did once throw my sister's cabbage patch kid in the garbage. :teeth: It got hauled away to the dump, but sis was so distraught that our mom actually drove us to the waste center to trod through mounds of garbage for "Cinnamon".

We found her, but she was a bit stinky, as you can imagine.

She got a bath in the tub with sis, and then got put outside in the sun to dry for a day. I think we had to wring out her cloth body a few times, because they act like sponges. Poor cinnamon.

I would hand wash her with a mild soap. Then place her between clean dry towels and press all the excess water out. This will probably take awhile and use up a lot of towels. You can even roll the body of the doll tightly in between 2 towels. This is how I wash delicate sweaters and stuffed animals. Then just leave her out where she can air dry, in the sun or on a clothes line. Her body may need a little fluffing up, but I think she will come out of it better than if she takes a ride in a wash machine.

My mom used to put mine in a pillowcase and send her through the washer. Then she would put it in the sun to dry. It takes a while but comes out clean

I put them in a pillowcase then into the washer and air dry in the dryer.
My DD has many ..........

Good Luck :sunny:

Thank you for all of the help. I was actually afraid to wash her because I was now sure I could explain why Marsha Fiona turned into a huge blue lump. I really could not explain the melted version that happened with jen. Marsha Fiona gets a bath tomorrow!

If you have an Original they have a Bath Camp you can send them to and they do repairs also. As far as the ones bought in stores I have no idea.
