Hi,

Any idea how much for a cab?

Thank you.

When they say "no luggage" on a resort/park bus do they mean a carry-on sized wheeled bag? Transferring resorts and I'm not comfortable having the luggage service transfer our bag with laptops/meds, etc.

Orlando Taxi Fare Finder.

You cannot bring a wheeled bag on the bus. You also can't take one into the parks, even if you're just going to put it in a locker. You can bring a smaller, non-wheeled bag (overnight bag/large purse/diaper bag size.) both on the bus and to the parks.

Obviously it is your own decision, but they tend to be very good in taking care off stuff including "out of the norm" if your worry about that is the deciding factor pushing you toward taxi instead of other reasons.

Laptop etc. you could easily just take with you in a day bag. No biggie, right? Medication is one you will always want to keep "on" yourself, to minimize risk of abuse. No matter how low, the risk is not worth it for the non OTC heavier stuff. Medical supplies, aids etc? Nothing even close to new under the horizon for bell services, whether it being something very common or uncommon.

You don't even want to see the amount of medical stuff I have to schlap around. ;) But no biggie at all for smooth moving with a split stay. Including stuff like the large amount of tube feedings that can't be out in Florida weather without spoiling etc. If worried at all; simply talk to bell services the day before and if need be ask to speak to a manager to know what your options are. They've seen enough to find a way to make things work whenever possible.

With this switch you can easily hop on a DTD bus and walk to the check in desk from there, or walk from BWV to DHS and hop on a SSR bus from there.

Just made the exact same move myself a little over a week ago. Can't say anything other than perfect smooth move made and perfect care taken of my medical stuff, removing any and all risks. Did have some extra things to be put in place because of just getting out of hospital the night before the move but when looking at it from the normal-run-if-the-mill-move point of view can't say anything else but very smooth experience.

Thanks everyone for your replies. Found that taxi cab calculator to be absolutely useless! We'll likely make up our minds the morning of switching.

have you thought of just renting a car for the day? we often do that and then go shopping for food or stuff at outlet mall and out to dinner too, restaurants all over out there... you can rent at Swan/Dolphin or car center or hotels on Hotel Plaza Blvd..
We will be doing this exact thing next Sat. moving from BWV to SSR:lmao:

Although the WDW web site says luggage is not allowed on Disney buses, internal directives say baggage is allowed, as long as it is under the personal control of a guest and does not block the aisle.

I've never heard anyone in management say that wheeled luggage is specifically prohibited.

Well, that's terrific...yet another instance of Disney saying one thing, but meaning another!!! And we wonder why people are confused. Sheesh.

Here's the thing.....if you want to transfer from SSR to BW, you are going to have to go to park, with your bag, then transfer to another bus going to BW. Sure you can go to DTD, but you won't be able to do that really early. And then you have to either take the bus from SSR to DTD or walk over. And then, it's going to be iffy as to how long you're going to have to wait for a bus back to BW.
I would just take a cab. Or, take a largish backpack with you, put the stuff in it that you don't trust Disney to move for you. THen, you can take it into a park, and stow it in a locker, then head to BW later on...around noonish. Let SSR move the rest of your bags. Granted, you won't get them until late afternoon, but it will work.
