Bye Bye Tomorrowland Speedway

I still like that ride, Lighting McQueen better be good. Humph.

Hi there,

No work will really start until the current crew are nearing the enf of the current fantasyland project, which by the way is looking good.

If you don't believe then just wait out and it will come true.

If this is true I give up. Because theming obviously doesn't mean anything to them anymore

I think it would be cool... put some Cars scenary up along the roadway, switch out the cars. Maybe current cars need refurbing anyway so just switch them out? Seems to me to be an easy fix to take an existing ride and theme it to Cars instead of creating a whole new Cars ride.

as for theming with Tomorrowland... really, not sure in first place how the speedway as it is is really futuristic or Tomorrowland-ish. I hope they do it.... just as long as doesn't end up being closed down during one of our future trips as is my son's new fav ride!

Kids love this ride just as it is. No reason to fix what aint broke!

I can't believe they'd spend money on this when there are so many things they cut.

Oh that ride is definite broken, I cannot even ride it anymore I cannot handle the horrible exhause fumes.

While I think it may undergo a facelift I don't se it being Radiator Springs....

This rumor has been going around since Cars came out - not Cars 2, the original.

I always refer to this ride as "The stupid cars!"
I hate the noise, the smell and the hot line.

HOWEVER, every since my kids have been big enough to drive their own car, they have loved this ride. Honestly, once I am out of the "pit" area it is kind of nice. You can trick yourself that you live in Magic Kingdom and you are cruising around in your car. Then it's back to the nasty pit again.

I suppose my kids fascination with the cars will end when they are old enough to drive a real car. (all too soon) Then I will miss "the stupid cars".

Cars theme would probably update it a little. It always seemed to be the transition to Fantasyland for us...

I have heard rumors of a refurb to the speedway, but not a whole overhaul.

I have heard that Disney is looking to refurbishing it and adding a Cars theme to it. Disney does acknowledge that the cars are old and need to be replaced soon.

Apparently, the Cars will look like the ones from the hit films and they may install some sort of interactive and/or themed queue. Hopefully, it's in the AC.

I'm sure they'll add some sort of storyline to it, also. Maybe even FASTPASS, but no one will know until it is announced.

I'm all for upgrading Tomorrowland or any other land. Since when have all the attractions in Tomorrowland actually fit the theme. Does the Speedway mean Tomorrow? Not to me.

I would personally like to see this happen, not sure if it will. I guess Im just not a fan of the current Speedway and my opinion of it is that it isnt very futuristic to me, but then again I havnt ridden on it in many years. Just my two cents.

They need to completely tear it out, not re-theme. This is a tremendous waste of space and is an attraction found in every amusement park in the country.

Maybe its me but Monsters Inc Laugh Floor isn't very tomorrow land ish. LOL.

Sorry, I don't give any credence to this rumor. Will be very surprised if it were to happen.

I keep reading posts regarding what will and will not fit the theme of Tomorrowland and I am left scratching my head trying to figure out what gas guzzling, carbon monoxide spewing, deafening noise making cars on a lame track have to do with Tomorrowland. This should be about the future, not the past.
IMHO, these cars should be in a newly themed Wasteland where we pay homage to bygone eras an outdated technology.

If it didn't come from a bus driver, it ain't true.

I thought it was the customer service CM's on the phone that are the most accurate.

Honestly, this change wouldn't take a whole lot to do. They would keep the same track and change the cars, it could be done overnight. Frankly I'm surprised it hasn't been done already.
