Will I miss out on the night time parades, fireworks, Illumination and the night time things that go on at MGM? I know the parks closes early. I think I have read that "wishes" go on Saturday nights. What about Illuminations?
Thanks

Illuminations (Epcot) and Fantasmic (MGM) are shown nightly year-round.

The schedule for Wishes and Spectromagic (MK) will vary. Even in the off-season, you will probably get at least one showing of each on the weekend and another on a weekday.

Ditto to skinsfan!
THe only thing you will miss are the crowds. And don't woryy about the "special" things like wishes. No one is there, so you won't have to stake out spots hours before. September is a lovely time to go. You will be able to accomplish everything on your list.

Nearly always go at this time(made the mistake of going in July once-never again!!) just schedule MK for a Saturday night & you'll catch Spectro. Illuminations is the same time all year round & at MGM all they do is bring Fantasmic forward an hour during the week. As everyone says.....LESS CROWDS!
SD:tongue:

oh, no, when we were there last Sept, MK (main st) was so crowded you couldn't even move for Spectro & FW's. Some rides were OK, others had a wait.

I thought Wishes has been shown every night since its debut? I know it was during a slow week in November as well as every night during our trip last week.

Keep in mind last year they had the fairytale vacation package going on at that time-7 nights for the price of 4. Oh if they could only do that again. The package really increased the crowds.

I think we were there at the same time last year, while Main Street was more crowded, we walked out of Crystal Palace and saw the fireworks from the area right outside Crystal Palace and were able to walk to Frontierland (while Spectromagic)was going up Main Street and was able to get a great post in Frontierland without a wait. The longest ride line in MK was 15 minutes, which is great by my standards. DH was so impressed by the non-crowds, we are going again in September.

WE are going there Sept 11 to the 18th. This will be our
3rd time in 3 years we are going in Sept. We just booked
this bonus trip because we just got back from a week in
March and were dissapointed. We had never gone when
it was busy and were not use to it. We mine as well go
during slow season while DD is still little.

Sept is an awesome time to go. No crowds, lines or hassels. The weather is still hot. The only issue would be a hurricane, but
can't plan for those can you.

You will be spoiled by a September visit.

See you there!

Since they introduced wishes, they have been putting on the show every night - in non-peak times Spectro is usually on Tues and Sat

thanks

We love Sept, it is a very relaxed atmosphere and the weather is still warm. We just get the list of event times and plan which park to go to that way we have always been able to see fireworks etc. Even though the park times are shorter you can see alot more during the day with less crowds. It also gives you a chance to try out some of the great resort eating places....and experence other parts of WDW.

With a DD18 now in college we are stuck going at busier times for a couple of years.

Next year its going to be March, hopefully we do not regret it.

Thanks for the good news. Dissy4Dizey it looks like we will be there at that same time (sept 12-19) Ft Wilderness cabins. Were are you staying. Cant wait for my 1st trip to WDW.

So from reading this thread i'm assuming that the fireworks will only be maybe on one weekend night. Not every night then?

Hard to tell exactly. Since 'Wishes' debuted last October it has run almost every single day. It's entirely possible that the daily schedule will continue into the fall and beyond.

But, even if they discontinue the daily shows, the pattern for prior fireworks shows in the off season was typically one weekend showing AND one weekday showing per week. The exact days will vary.
