We are thinking of Staying at Saratoga this year.
BWV's is home.
What are the Pros and Cons of Each?

How do the pools compare?

I liked the quiet pool at SSR better than the one at BWV. BWV is surrounded by either BWV or the community hall.

the one I used at SSR (near DD) had a lovely view of DD.

the slide at SSR is much tamer than BWV. besides I hate that silly clown.

no room service, no valet parking, expect to walk at this resort outside.

As I recall, the pool at SSR is also zero depth entry - which is really nice if you have little kids. BWs is deep all over!

BWV is not our home resort, but we stayed there in June. The rooms we stayed in (a studio, then a one-bedroom), were sorely in need of renovating. This may not be the case for all the rooms, but it was disconcerting. And bus service was kind of a pain; long waits were the norm. But we enjoyed the restaurants and the option of using watercraft or walking to Epcot.

We stayed at SSR when it opened and are returning there in November. Normally, we would stay at OKW, our home resort, but since it is a short trip and we booked a studio, we wanted a couch instead of the two bed arrangement at OKW. It is a quiet resort, very spread out. We like the proximity of DTD, which is a huge plus since their on-site restaurant is rather basic. Bus service was good when we visited; of course, the resort had just opened and was far from full capacity. We did not visit the main pool, but really enjoyed using our community pool at Congress Park. There is a nice view of the water and DTD.

SSR
better restaurants at DTD
Better workout room
More things to do in DTD (Try Adventurers club)
Newer
Golf course resort
Little Nicer pools
Park in front of your hotel if you have a car
Spa
Better Shopping at DTD

BWV
Better
Closer to Epcot
Closer hotel restaurants (ESPN if you like sports stuff)
Little less points (standard view)
Nice Boardwalk
Fireworks at Epcot nightly
A little more magical with better service

The major differnces are do you like DTD or would you rather be able to walk to Epcot. I personally love DTD (stores, clubs, movies and restaurants).
I think if you have have young kids BWV maybe your choice. If you like the nightlife, go for SSR

bwv=terrible parking ssr=good parking
bwv walking distance to mgm and epcot
ssr walking distance to dtd
bwv =high points unless u stay in standard
ssr= good points
bwv= noisy
ssr= quiet
pools rate about the same

bwv = room service
ssr = pizza delivery?
bwv = valet parking
ssr = easy spa access

BWV wins for our family. Room service, Boardwalk being right there, walk to Epcot and MGM, valet parking all outweigh any of the nice features SSR offers. Believe it or not we like the pool better at BWV also. My 3 year old likes the big slide and the fact that the playground is right there. He likes to back and forth. Playground at SSR is at the quiet pool. It all boils down to preferences. SSR is a glorified condo resort while BWV has more of a hotel feel. If we stay in a condo it has to be at the beach. At WDW we want more full service.

SSR is in the golf course.

BWV is around 5 miles?

OKW is also in a golf course - but I thinks it starts at SSR.

We love both for different reasons-
SSR-newer
Congress Park area lovely views,very peaceful,love the quiet pool
Love to walk to DTD
BWV-close to Epcot and MGM
lively at night
ESPN(my husband's favorite)

Drawbacks-SSR -a longer distance from the parks
not many dining choices at the resort itself
BWV- not as new
no dedicated 2 bdrms-(important to us)

We are staying 1 night at SSR and 3 nights at BWV (Food and Wine Fest)in 5 weeks!! Can't wait.
We stayed in a Studio @BWV in April 2005 (loved it)
We stayed in a 2 bdrm and a studio@SSR in late Nov. early Dec. 2004(loved it)
We are staying at VWL in Jan.2006 (looking forward)
Planning to stay at SSR again in late Nov. early Dec 2006 (with my brother and his family) He really liked being able to take his 2 little ones over to DTD in the evening.

I perfer BWV but have nothing against SSR. With either you are at DISNEY. :banana: :Pinkbounc :banana:

BWV... Location to theme parks and other BW type entertainment and nice restaurants, definitly not the pool, the clowns give me the creeps!

SSR... Nice quite pool, fantasic fitness and spa, close proximity to DTD, but longs ways from theme parks, no "nice" restaurants on premises. Bus service slow.

Just my 2 cents worth.
