BWV vs. OKW?

I have another question that I'm sure has been well covered on these boards! What is the difference between a standard and preferred view at BWV? And if you pay for a preferred, are you guaranteed a good view? Also, does anyone know the difference in size between a studio at OKW and BWV? Thanks so much!

Regard studio size. They are bout the same sq ft. OKW has two queens. BWV has one queen and a sofa that folds out to make a regular bed.

Standard view at BWV....Largely the parking lot side of BWV.
Preferred view can be a Boardwalk view, Pool View or a Canal view. The former is in the most demand. The majority of the preferred views are not of the Boardwalk.

Some of the Preferred views that cost the extra points are IMHO not worth the points.

Thanks BillM - I kind of had that opinion myself re: the preferred view. Unless you were guaranteed the Boardwalk view by using those extra points! Thanks for taking the time to help.

In the studios, we felt the BWV seemed larger when the sofa was closed as compared to the two queens in the OKW studio...

Just fyi, and you may already know this, at BWV the standards are harder to get than the preferreds. So you may want to consider that when planning points.

Having stayed in a studio at BWV and also at OKW I have to comment that the size is really not very different. It is hard to make an accurate comparison because the rooms are shaped very differently--BWV is more long and narrow while OKW is more square. The bathroom in BWV is much tinier though!! The closet there is very hard to use since part of it is "hidden" behind the sink), there is no storage under the beds (if that is important to you) and the drawer space is limited (although I did hear that the dresser units were being replaced with larger units.) For two people, the BWV units would be more than sufficient. You'd have the sofa and a bed. But if you are considering 3 or 4 people , the OKW studio seemed to function better for us.

Thanks PKK/MJK - we have to ACTIVE DDs and I think a little more room and a larger BR are important enough to ensure we stay at OKW until they are more independent. It was just me who wanted to stay at the BWV - I like a little more proximity to the action! But, the conveniences of OKW as far as space and the parking spot right out front make this a more practical location for us (plus we loved it when we were there in Oct!) Thanks again!

I don't think the size of the rooms is as big a deal as the style of the resorts. OKW is more relaxed BWV is more in the action. Both have earned loyal fans because both are first rate resorts.

Just wanted to add that the studios at OKW are 376 sq.ft and those at BWV are 359 sq. ft. Also, I noticed on our last trip to BWV (12/2-12/8) that the armoire was upgraded to a four drawer unit. The extra storage space was much appreciated.

As raidermatt said, the standard view rooms at BWV tend to book quickly. I call day by day at the 11 month window to be sure of getting one.

Jasmine, it all depends upon what you're looking for during your vacation. We always book a standard view at BWV because we seldom spend much time in the room. (I think that the standard views are something like 17% of the resort, so they go quickly). If you're looking to spend quality time in your room, then the preferred units may be more of your style. We'd rather spend less points than have a view; it's simply a matter of personal preference.
