BWV Standard view

That is the way it is supposed to work, but in the discusion on this page of this thread several members indicated they wer unable to extend if they waited to extend until the day before the last night of their reservation..
That makes no sense to me. Guess I’ll have to try it sometime (but not now, I’m currently in a BWV std 1 bedroom, about to head out to MK).

Makes no sense to us either… but it happened… we were blocked from extending the stay and days ahead of the 11 month mark (which we already held) were not available 🤷‍♀️

If you pick a day and book for 10 days out,
Sorry, the longest you can book at exactly 11 months is 7 nights, but the concept is correct. Today, October 12, you could book maximum checkin October 12, checkout October 19. You could wait as late as October 18 to walk your reservation forward or to add nights to it if you want more than 7 nights, but you don’t have to wait until then.

Theoretically you are right. But that’s assuming that DVC haven’t taken out any room for maintenance or for other reasons.

In practice you should move your reservation more often. All of sudden you are locked out because 1 or more rooms have been removed from inventory.

Yes, I agree. I rarely walk except for very special reservations, and when I walk I usually modify every day. It allows a buffer in case something happens and I have to skip a day.

But today when I checked, the days from the 12th through the 15th weren't available. So if someone has a reservation the 9th through the 12th and tried to walk the 12th through the 15th, they wouldn't be able to do that?

Correct, they cannot modify it forward anymore. They will have to use the 9th-12th or cancel and try to start another reservation if they are walking

I think that you could modify your 9-12 to be 11-15 once it is the 11th. Maybe that’s what you tried but the way it’s written it’s open to interpretation. I think that the chance of a room being pulled for maintenance 11 months in advance is slim. Plus rooms are not assigned at the 11 month mark.

No. In this case NOTHING was available for ANYONE else to modify any stay to a stay that included the 11th-15th (other than those that did before the system said those days were unavailable). You would have to wait until the 16th and try to get a room then. Nothing was available to modify existing reservations or make new reservations until then.

Normally someone would have been able to modify that 9th-12th reservation to include the 11th-15th at anytime until the 12th without fear of the room being gone, but not in this case.

It stopped working the way it was supposed to at multiple resorts at the same time, which is why there were multiple people mentioning it, because it was a change in how the system is supposed to work.

That is why what is happening for these owners is not the way it should be.

The rooms are showing unavailable on the website for days that should be be open since we are not yet at the 11 month window for them.

It isn’t related with room assignments either but the system saying they are gone. So it a glitch or DVC purposely pulled them out ahead of the 11 month window for maintenance.

My understanding is if all SV rooms at BVV were "properly" booked by owners for all 7 nights from sept 12th to sept 18th, then it would make sense that all SV rooms woud show as unavailable through the night of sept 18th for members trying to book a new reservation. However, if a member had a reservation through the night of Sept 13th or later and was unable to extend then there is a problem.

I am not sure if the posters comenting on no availability are trying to book new reservations and seeing no availability, or are incorrectly not being to allowed to extend reservations beyond the nights they already have (sept 13th or later) when no one without an existing reservation should be able to book those nights and lock them out.

The window for Sept 12th just opened today. People saw these days gone before hand.

They were trying to extend as well so whatever was happening was not the way it should be.

Did anyone call to talk to MS? Maybe with hurricane issues it wasn’t possible. I’m just curious if DVC had an explanation. I’m expecting to hear it was a glitch, maybe cause by them suspending new reservations during Milton

I know it didn’t have to do with suspension because I was able to book a few nights in just a few weeks as I am going down to tour some hotels for my work and staying on my DVC.

From what people have reported, it does appear to be most likely a glitch.

There was something funny going on with the 30th for some months and people not being able to book.

I think there was even one report that MS was able to get what someone wanted booked with the help of IT?

Wish Disney would implement a rule where you can only edit your reservation once a week (with no restrictions on cancelling) to discourage walkers. It's honestly so ridiculous.
In the case of boardwalk that likely wouldn’t help that much. You’re never going to be able to compete with the commercial renters using bots to snap up all the standard-view studios to rent confirmed reservations.

Im no tech savi but I don’t think bots etc are at play.
I’m able to book standard views at the 11month window. If I can, so can others.

I have had success in the pass booking akv studios and bwv std at 11month. It started as “being flexible” with my date but eventually matured to full on walking lol. To me the key to starting the walk has always been to practice with a less in demand room so you know you are at least doing correct on your end. I am convinced there used to be code that the booking time was based on your search time instead of when you move forward with booking (tested extensively with rooms that were 100% available and getting unavailable messages well after 8). Within the last year this has changed to where it appears to be controlled by when I hit to book.

To me, the only workable solution to end walking would be to redefine 11 months to the month rather then day (e.g Nov 1 2024 8am all of Oct 2025 comes available). The issue with this solution is with Disney IT I feel this becomes the hunger games of everyone crashing the site but since it kills walking maybe it’s not as big of an issue once that practice ends (as others stated most times can pick up after walkers anyway).

Interesting… so do you thinking that we can now search pre 8am and book at 8am?

I haven’t tried extensive but this morning did the search at 7:59 and clicked forward exactly at 8 using akv standard room and it worked first try.

It would be a nightmare for anyone with reservations that overlap two months, unless you allow to book the whole stay, but then it doesn't stop walking.

I'd like to have a queue system at 8am similar to what they have for MM and other events. So everyone has the same chance, no more bots making multiple requests at 8am within milliseconds to be the first. At least this way each contract has one chance. I think @Brian Noble was the first to suggest this.
