BWV Standard view

BWV standard views are such a bargain, it is not surprising that they are being walked. We want to go the first week of December, which I know is very popular, especially given the point difference between PV and SV*.
Do I need to start walking now to get SV's?

I know the DVC points charts can be changed to reallocate points between seasons or add/change seasons to even out demand. However, from what I remember from previous discussions on this board, the general consensus was DVC points charts cannot be changed to reallocate points between room categories to even out demand (SV being a different category than PV). Therefore, BWV SV will remain a bargain compared to BWV PV, making BWV SV difficult to book even at the 11-month mark.

* For Sunday to Thursday night stays from Dec 1-23, booking both a BWV 2BR SV and a BWV Studio SV costs the same number of points as just booking a BWV 2BR PV. (41 points per night) and booking 4 nights in a BWV 2BR SV is only 1 more point than booking 3 nights in a BWV 2BR PV (124 points vs. 123).

Not to thread jack, but I am considering a bwv contract as we loved our stay there. We are willing to pay for the studio PV- is there issues with this view at 11 month windows? We plan to ho on school breaks and know it will be more expensive points charts wise.

Standard studios book instantly almost year round, Boardwalk views do during popular times as well. Pool/Garden book last and I don't think anyone has reported having major issues booking them at 11 months, unless its at a super popular time that people may be walking towards, like the first 2 weeks of December

Thanks! That’s super helpful

Just to pile on with another data point - even though I’m having a hard time booking a 2-bedroom BWV view in Aug at 11 months, I had zero issue booking 7 nights in a P/G studio at 7 months during Spring break using non-BWV points.

A random BW standard view has sent me on a wild goose chase that occupies all my time now.

I had no plans to go on another trip during a school vacation but was playing around with the website and lo and behold a standard BW was just sitting there all by itself. I grabbed it thinking meh I doubt this will lead to anything.

Fast forward a few weeks and I have some random nights at different resorts trying to piece together something that would actually work. I'm stalking the website day and night with waitlists all over the place. This BW standard view is a dangerous thing I can tell you that!

Wait, so the SV is same as the P/G view for the first 3 wks of December? And 1pt more for 4 nights?

Ohh! I see.

Yes, we are planning Xmas 2025. Maybe we should move it a week earlier….
Check the points charts! And be aware that the most in-demand week of the year for DVC is the first week of December. The second most in-demand is Christmas week, and the third is the second week of December.

So the third week, the week before Christmas, isn’t quite as popular!

If by PV, you mean the boardwalk view studios, be aware that those usually fill right at 8 a.m. at 11-months out during the high demand fall season that runs from late Sep to marathon weekend in Jan. and many trying to reserve them lose the battle. If you mean the pool/garden view suduios, which are about 65% of all studios at BWV, those have generally not had a problem booking them at 11-months out, with the following exceptions: (a) they can disappear right at 11-months out for time during the first two weeks of Dec and Christmas week (the three highest DVC demand weeks of the year), (b) they can sometimes disappear right at 11-months out for a special event, e.g., they filled at 8 a.m. at 11-months out for Sep 29 thru Oct 1, 2021 (Oct 1 was the beginning of the WDW 50th anniversary celebration); and (c) based on the last 7-year room refurbishment of BWV that took place from late Sep 2023 to about two months ago, during which time DVC took out half the resort for a number of months at one time, and then the other half for much of the rest of the time, to do refurbs, you may have difficulty getting any studio at 11-months out for those periods as even the pool/garden view studios disappeared a number of times, other than just for those three Dec weeks, right at 11-months out.

I meant pool garden view. Of course I’d be up for boardwalk or standard, but we stayed in pool view studio last time and we still loved the experience and would be happy to continue to do so. I just wanted to make sure that I could generally get ANY studio. Thanks!

What’s strange now is that 4 days from now ALL rooms are already gone.
Had 1 room type be gone if say it’s maintenance but ALL that’s weird

That is clearly a system glitch. The site is currently showing no availability for any room at any WDW resort for Aug 30, 31, or Sep 1, but instead is just showing what is happening with Aug 26 thru 29

Yeah I see that too. Definitely a glitch

I know - this is the week I need too 😢
I just wanted to follow up on this thread: I ended up being able to book a 2-bedroom standard villa for the last week of August by following the walkers every day. I’m grateful that it ended up working but boy was that a lot of stress! Also - and maybe this is typical - what I found is that I couldn’t pick up the day right at 8 or even 8:05. It was usually between 8:30 and 9. So I basically had to stalk the site for 45 min every day.

So while frustrating, there is hope! 🤣

I normally walk mine from 8.20-9.00 so your timeframe fits my schedule :-)
