BWV Standard view

What I find odd is that for the last few weeks I’ve been staying in the U.S. and during that time I haven’t been able to book another standard view at 8am. I’ve certainly tried but to no luck.

Back home in Europe I normally don’t have any issues.
 
Not sure if DVC opened additional rooms at BWV, but I just looked to see if I should try at 8:00 am Eastern time tommorow morning for a stay starting on 9/8 for BWV SV. However, all views, including SV an BWV are available to book now for stays starting 9/1 or later.

I was just coming to share this as well! I’ve been trying for the last week to grab a standard studio, and struck out every morning at 8 am. The standard view would show as available right up until 8 am, and then when I refreshed it was gone. Like didn’t even show up as an option to try and book. I thought it was very weird!

The refurbishment should be well wrapped up by now, so not sure if they were holding back a bunch of inventory or what, but hopefully if anyone else was in the same boat as me, they were able to grab one!
 
Same! Something crazy must have happened tonight because some AKV value studio, 1br value, club level studio, 1Br club, 1and Riviera tower/duo studios opened up as well for me. I've never seen so many hard to book rooms available at a random time at 11 months!

Well I grabbed a 2br boardwalk view last night when the glut of rooms showed up but I am going to lose it because their system is messed up. I only grabbed it for 2 nights just to get it on the books so I could go back and see what else had popped up for availability and I wanted to have some of my points left if I wanted to grab a studio or something instead. I have constantly been trying to modify if to a longer reservation over the last 24 hours but the 9th has only shown as unavailable the entire time.
But all the days afterwards are available and I have it reserved up to tomorrow's 11 month booking window so it 100% should be available for me to extend.

So come tomorrow if it pops as actually available at 8:00 ET or the next day when the 10th is available to book I will likely lose the reservation I started unless I have the fastest fingers again. I had been checking every morning since September booking (my use year) started and not a single standard or BW view studio or 2br had been available until last night. So disappointing. Is there a possibility that member services could extend it if the system is showing the single gray day unavailable?

Maybe call Member Services and see if they can extend it? At least you’ll have tomorrow booked or they might be able to make note of the glitch and ensure you get the room.
 
I have a week in a standard view 9/3 to 9/10, which I walked from mid August to this date. We need 2 weeks in total.

I have just tried to extend today, but 9/10 is unavailable! How is that possible? Is it just a case of inventory has been removed… or is it something to do with the weird events above?!!

Just before 8:00 am and just after 8:00 am it showed 2BR SV and Studio SV at BWV are unavailable through Sept 11.
I wonder if there was a system glitch that let members book SV on Monday night that really were not available, and rather than cancel those reservations, DVC blocked SV's for future dates, so members who booked those rooms with the intention of walking will lose them unless they booked a reservation that included at least through the night of the 11th.

ETA: When I just went in to modify my reservation I got the "giberish" error screen as soon as I clicked on view or modify details.

Highly annoying! I can see why people would walk a reservation everyday now!
 
It's possible. It happened to an AKV room I had booked that night as well so it wasn't just BWV. Could have been a system glitch or maybe this is how they are going to combat long term walking, just make a day unavailable once in a while to make everyone rebook. Either way it's super annoying.

Did you cal Member Services to see if they could modify your reservation? Or did you just try again this morning to extend/move your reservation?

No I didn't call. With all the hurricane stuff going on I don't want to tie up any of member services right now
 
I checked just before the booking window opened and today was still unavailable as well as tomorrow now. So some people were able to extend their bookings, just not me it seems. The days have been reappearing after the walkers go by so I'll just have to keep trying to get a new start

I'm only walking it until Friday so it was getting down to the wire for me anyways, so I figured I might as well book the full dates since I'll be using those points. I wonder if that's what prevented the glitch others have experienced? I'm now booked through to the 14th.

Sounds like it.
They must have allowed additional bookings for rooms that didn’t exist on Monday night, and had to block off future dates. Grr. Looks like I’ll be doing a split stay now!

5 nights meant you had the night of the 11th, so you could extend. Anyone who did not have the night of the 11th cannot modify/extend, since the 9th, 10th, and 11th are all showing as unavailable.

Unfortunately I agree.
If you had 7 nights ending on the 10th and waited 6 days (until today) to modify/extend you are out of luck.

I just now looked at Standard view BWV, and it is showing waitlist to book until September 16.
 
I guess it’s a good thing we love the 1 bedroom rooms. We never have to walk a reservation though we do book out October/ November trip close to the 11 month mark. I don’t understand people who walk every day. If you pick a day and book for 10 days out, then you are good until the ninth day where you need to cancel the earliest days and then book another however many days you need. Once you have a reservation, no one can book the days right after your stay until the 11th month mark, except for you. Maybe it’s people who only have a limited number of points that have to do the daily walking. That’s a good argument for picking up some extra points!

That is the way it is supposed to work, but in the discusion on this page of this thread several members indicated they wer unable to extend if they waited to extend until the day before the last night of their reservation..
