For what it's worth, I managed to book a value studio today. Before booking I checked the number of rooms and there were 1 left that could be booked when the window opened.

Maybe I got lucky again, maybe not. But anyhow nobody should think that standard or value room are unattainable, but they do require that you try more than a few times to get the room.

I tried to book today at the 11 month window right at the 8am mark. Prior to booking I checked the exact number of rooms being available, there was 1 room available plus very few rooms for the next day.

I got the room

I dont believe in the thought that my computer was faster than someone else's - Im located in Europe and even if DVC have servers in Europe they still need to talk to the mothership and that gives everyone else in the U.S an edge as they don't need to wait over those like me living in Europe. I know the wait is short, and depending on the connection between DVC europe (if that's a thing) and DVC U.S the waittime is not in seconds but in milliseconds.

For some rooms even a lost nanosecond could mean that you don't get the room.

Why did I get the room - maybe I was lucky maybe I wasn't. Currently my stats for BWV rooms are good - value not so much, I hope that will change.

How were you able to check the exact number of rooms being available?

If you are attempting to get BWV standard view studio or 2BR, summer, including July (other than time around July 4) and August is a time of year when actual demand is significantly less than during the fall season. Openings for BWV are more likely to occur during that time than for AKV value or club level as walkers pass by. For example, all the days for last three weeks of July and Aug 1 and 2, 2025 for BWV standard studios/2BRs are now open despite that each such day disappeared right at 8 a.m. at 11-months out.

I’m trying to book a 2-bedroom standard view for Aug 2025 - having no luck day of, but seem to be able to string together days after the fact…which I assume means the studios/2 bedrooms are being walked. But for when?! August is certainly not popular so are folks walking now for October? December? I applaud the commitment but boy that’s a lot of walking!! I could never have the stamina!

I don’t want to walk a reservation but after monitoring the standard view studio availability for the past couple of weeks it seems like I will have to. The problem is it’s almost impossible to get a foot in the door and it’s time consuming to keep trying. Every day, as long as I have been checking, except one, the day of and the next day are already unavailable. The one day I was able to try and get in I was not lucky. Since 1999 I never had this issue getting standard view studios at 11 months. It’s really frustrating. I also know I can go in behind and pick up days but that’s not guaranteed for when I need the reservation. Sure, I can get preferred view but would much rather use less points. I guess social media sharing tips and the teeny tiny contracts that can now be bought allow more competition. Not sure how, but I wish DVC could find a way to stop the walking and put everyone on a level playing field.

The problem here is that there are more people wanting to book standard than availablr rooms. That cannot change, walking or not.
You wrote you tried once and didn't succeed. Well, that's what could have happened the only day you could attempt to make the reservation if walking was impossible. At least now you have the option to try again another day.

It’s just the studios that are being walked but that also knocks out 2BR due to them being lock offs

I have been a member for over 20 years. This year when booking for 2025 I was not able to get our std studio even though I tried to start walking over a month before our actual checkin date. Over the years I had sold a number of our contracts and now have just enough for our yearly stay in a std studio which at this point . Am I kicking myself? Absolutely!!! I am in the process of purchasing 25 points resale because I am pretty sure this situation will only get worse. At 74 yrs old , our stay consists of lots of quiet pool time, a couple of trips into Epcot, lots of good dining and Disney Springs. That std studio is where we want to be (easy access to quiet pool) but our chances of getting one of these rooms is not good.

I wish I could bring myself to go in September but I don't want to deal with the heat anymore.

Maybe next year I'll take a shot at January.

The fact that I can’t even get a Boardwalk view at 11 months in arguably the slowest month is pretty discouraging. I’m hoping that the walkers will keep walking but I don’t have the patience to keep stalking the site for weeks on end <vent over>

I don’t recall the specific error message but yes - in essence I’ve been locked out before at 8, which is a huge bummer. Sorry you had to deal with it too.

I didn’t get that message but got the usual one when I can’t get the room. My husband and I both tried but were unsuccessful.

If you can’t be bothered with stalking you can just waitlist a day at time behind the walkers, that works too
I’ve got next Aug just by picking up days behind walkers and so stalking worked for me

Just adding my experience here, as another data point.
I was blissfully unaware of there being any issue booking standard view villas in the summer at 11 months. Have done so without any issue many times and we've owned for over a decade. This year, however, was different.
Logged on to be set for 8am on Sept. 1st to book a standard 2-BR for Aug. 1st next summer. Couldn't get it. Was I using the wrong membership (we also own at BLT)? Did I have the dates wrong?
Nope, August 1st was unavailable, and thus I couldn't book anything from there forward (which was showing available). I booked the previous week, instead. We actually wanted 8 nights, so the next day I modified to move it ahead a day and add a day. Ok, so then we had the 8-nights in a standard 2-BR and logged in each morning to move by a day (I know I could have done every few days but I was available to do it and was stupidly hoping one time I might find suddenly I could just move the whole thing to the dates we wanted).
It was like clockwork in that each new day the next day was available, so in the end we walked it right to where we wanted it and are now all set. YAY!
But, I really disliked doing it. Not only do I not want the stress of modifying it each day for however long is necessary, I am frustrated with myself that I participated in a practice that I do not condone. However, desire to vacation on the dates I want overrode that. I really do wish there were some way Disney could control the walking.
I also wonder (as have others here): why is this now happening? I get that it's a supply and demand issue, so there's more demand and people are willing to begin walking weeks in advance (ugh). But why the increase in demand? F&W runs longer than ever, starting mid-summer. Kids still go back to school late-Aug-early-Sept. Are there just that many new owners? It just really surprised me, and then to come here and see that this has been going on well before my attempt... Just wow!
