We are headed to WDW in few weeks and have booked at SV 1 BR. I would like to avoid being directly infront of the entrance/driveway. Can anyone suggest an area to request? I know that requests are just that, requests.:) I remember seeing a color coded map here once of BWV.....

Thanks for any help you my provide:goodvibes

Request a room far from the elevators. The farther you are from the elevators, the farther away from the entrance area you are.

A lot of comments about requesting locations, seems DVC makes little effort in advance, so when you get there you might be ok. If your not, we tell them we'll wait for a room we're in no rush. That helps...good luck

Thanks for your responses. We have had really good luck in DVC meeting our requests when we had it noted on the ressie.

Is there only one bank of elevators at BWV? What is the area that looks over the canal? I think it is SV??
I wish I had bookmarked that map.

Here's the great map that Granny always shares.

And yes, only one set of elevators at BWV.

All the BW Standard View rooms face the drive. The ones at the end of the hall have more lawn in front of them, the ones closer in are closer to the entrance - but also closer to the elevators.

Most of the rooms that over look the canal are preferred view.

If you don't mind the long hallways I rquested close to commmunity hall. We were the very last room. We used the stairs at the end of the hall most of the time comming and going. We had a nice view of the side canal and the canal going to HS with Tower of Terror in the background.

Yep, if you don't mind stairs as well.....there are a lot of "shortcuts" at BWV for people who don't mind stairs that make distance from the elevators sort of moot.

request close to the stream - but tennis works too.

that say this is pretty far from the elevators - so unless you can up and down the steps - get closer to the elevators.

I was on the fourth floor...4131..a few weeks ago. It's a standard view, overlooking the pond area inbetween BW and the old valet parking lot...at the very end of the bldg....ToT was off to the side. You could see the canal and the boats off to the right. I was about the third door from the very end of the hall...took about 246 steps from the elevator. Yes, I counted. Need to do something to amuse myself on that trek. Last Dec, I got the same area, but a few doors closer to the elevators. Too funny.

Here are some shots from my balcony, as well as looking up at my room from the walkway to DHS.

My room was the top floor one, at the left end.

I've stayed at BWV at least 10 times and my experience is rooms are assigned in advance so I would have your request added to your reservation. Anytime I've booked standard view, I requested top floor across from the bus stop and everytime I've got close to that (3rd or 4th floor).

That's a great view and perfect location for us. Thanks for the pictures!
Did you put in a request or were you just lucky?
We are staying there in February and I want to make sure I request it properly... would "4th floor canal view" do it?
Also, the balconies look awfully close together....did you have any issues with privacy? We're big balcony people and look forward to spending the morning/evenings out on there.

BWV is our home. We stay there when we want to visit WDW. Soo... we don't care about views. When we want views we stay at HHI or VB. :)

Actually, I've been 'lucky' enough to get that area twice now. I have other areas that I much prefer...closer to the elevators...but many love the more distant area that I seem to get so often!! I would request an upper floor, at the end of the bldg. The true canal views are really preferred views.

The balcony's are pretty close to each other. But, I haven't yet had an issue. I find that the vast majority of guests don't spend much time out on the balcony's.

Thanks for the info....good to know.

Not to hijack this thread but I'm wondering if anyone has suggestions related to a pool or garden view. As am so amazed that my little cape cod TS that I bought for $139 pulls Disney properties:cloud9: We could have done deluxe in that past but always chose a longer vacation at a mod so this is great. And at that it is a pool/garden view! Thanks!

Hello! BVW also our home resort -

If you don't have to haul sleeping kids, it is likely fine to be further from the elevators. We did, so it was a bit cumbersome and quite difficult at times - but we are now past that.

It did "irk" me that the DVC folks had to hike to the elevators, but the up-side is that we got to be further from the elevators. I think the "canal" view as it is being called on this thread is what you get - we didn't request it or anything.
