I'm new here and we're planning a Nov 27th trip to BWV (haven't booked yet). I plan on renting points for the 1st time, but wanted to get all my facts 1st. What's the difference between standard and preferred 2 br? Also, I'm going to be 6 months pregnant with 3 and 5 yr old boys and father-in-law who can't keep up with a fast pace. Is the BWV too spread out and big for us. I would hate to get tired out even before we hit the park. Any recommendations? I've only been there once, 2 years ago at the OKW.

Carrie....first of all, welcome to the DIS Boards!! :)

You ask about Standard rooms and Preferred rooms, but actually the rooms themselves are identical. Standard and Preferred refer to the views from the rooms, not to the accommodations themselves. Sorry if you knew that, but you did say you were new to this, so I didn't want to assume.

Standard view rooms, for the most part, have a view of the front driveway or the tennis courts at BWV. Preferred views are split into two groups....Boardwalk Preferred and Water & Garden Preferred.

Boardwalk Preferred is just what it sounds like....the rooms overlook the Boardwalk. Water/Garden View rooms overlook the canal & the pools for the most part.

There's a significant difference in point requirements, and if view is not a big deal to you, then Standard View is great. It's also hard to get on this short notice, and you are looking at a busy time of the year for DVC accommodations.

As for the spread out portion, BWV is set up hotel style rather than the separate buildings/condo style of OKW. So any walking around within the resort is in air conditioned hallways. You could request something close to the one elevator which could help too.

I think BWV could be a great location for your group.

Well, at this point you are unlikely to score a std view 2BR anyway, so it's pretty much a moot point. The 27th is a Saturday, following Thxgiving, so you might have trouble scoring any room until the following Monday.

Most of WDW is pretty spread out, so you may want to think about an ECV (Electric Convenience Vehicle, aka scooter) for FIL "who can't keep up". As for your DW who will be 6 months pregnant at that point (crossing fingers and lots of pixie dust in your direction on that score), it will surely depend on how she's feeling. She'll be cruising out of that golden second trimester and into the much less comfortable third, when the bulk of the whole operation really starts to get in the way. BWV is not that much bigger than any other large WDW hotel, but you might want to try to get a room near the elevators or a first floor room. OKW might also be a good choice bcs point costs are lower, the units are bigger, and tho it is spread out, there are busstops everywhere (or you could park right outside your door).

I would think that this would suit you fine, depending on everyone's health and energy level. And of course this all depends on whether there are any 2BRs to be had during your dates. Good luck!

Your best chance at renting points would be to rent someone's reservation that they are unable to use at this point. Post your request on the Rent/Trade board and see if anyone has a reservation that you might be able to use.

If you could work it out, VWL might even be a better choice for you. It's small and very convenient to the MK and Fort Wilderness. With your boys being young, I'd bet they'd love to spend a lot of time at MK. You can still take a bus to Epcot, Disney Studios and AK.

If you are looking to go to BWV this Nov27-dec I'm afraid you are out of luck as all types of rooms are gone. I've been on a waitlist for over two months for any size unit to open up. I couldn't get BC either only OKW or SSR when I booked. I took OKW as a backup but intend to cancel it if room at BWV doesn't open up. I think my guests would prefer the swan or dolphin so they can be close to the rest of us. You might get lucky if you book thru CRO as that is a completely different inventory but DVC point rooms are gone with a long waitlist.

Just a note about OKW, the new pool is being constructed during this time frame so the main pool area will be closed. I just received a letter from Disney warning me in advance.

we are taking an unplanned trip (for us, meaning less than 11 months out) and i couldn't even get a std studio for late january when i called last week. very tough to book. (of course i waitlisted)
