I just booked a studio at BWV for Apr 1-6, our Spring Break. I am going to take my girls as I had a free plane ticket, APs, and points. Am I totally nuts? This will be our third trip within a year, so we are just looking to get away. One of my teachers went last year and "it wasn't that bad". DVC Vets, please give me the real story.

We'll be at BWV then too. I plan to just go with the flow. Hit the parks in the morning and hang by the pool for the rest of the day. We go with the attitude that if we can't do an attraction because it's too busy, no biggie, we know we'll be back again soon.

We'll see ya by the pool!

We were there 2 years ago for the "Perferct Storm"-College breaks, Spring Breaks Schools and Easter...and actually I loved it. Since you have a convient location, you can get back to your room for a rest/break by the pool with beverages ;) . We were at MK at 2am going on Dumbo for my first time in 40+ years. We just went to lunch by 12:30 and then had 6-6:30 dinner ADR's. That year we did almost all TS...and I would highly recommend that with a few Broadwalk bakery items etc. Watch out for Weekends those days tended to be the worst. But we were there for 10 days without 1 problem :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Oh cool! We'll be at BWV then too! :)

Actually, we were at WDW from December 23-January 2 and also the first week of April this past year and I'll take the April crowds any day over the week between Christmas and New Years! :scared1:

This April, we plan on spending a LOT more time just enjoying the resort and amenties and the Parks will be a second priority. :)

I have travelled to Disney in the summer, Christmas, New Year's, and Spring Break, so I guess I've seen it all! :rotfl: Spring Break was actually the best. The Christmas/NY trip was unbelievably crowded, and summer was just unbearably hot! It's hot in the spring too, but more do-able than the summer heat. Just take it easy and enjoy the pool. That's the great thing about DVC, you don't have to worry about getting everything done at the parks, you know you'll be back! :thumbsup2

We'll be at BCV over Spring Break. We've been down there that time before, and like the others said, we just enjoy the pool more, and try to get the parks in first thing in the morning, and we are usually back to the room by noon to enjoy other things. The weather is great, and we just enjoy being away for a while. :cool1:

Spring break isn't as bad as I was told. We were there last spring with my 2 little ones and found it not to be that bad. Then again we were not in line for the big time rides either. Expidition Everest had a huge line so get your fast pass early if you plan on hitting AK.

We were there two years ago the week after Easter and it was crazy. We said we would never go again at that time of year. The airport here was very crowded, the airport there was crowded. The lines were long (never did get a Fast Pass for Test Track, the extra magic hour was even packed). We also went to Sea World and it was a 45 minute wait just to get in!

That said, I think we will be returning the same week this year (it's the same week as yours) We are just going to go with the flow, hang out at the pool and resort and maybe a couple of days in the park. The weather at that time of year is usually beautiful so that trumps the crowds for us. We love the variety of restaurants, resorts and atmosphere and it's just a treat to get out of Minnesota in March. :sunny: We have not thought of another alternative destination yet so our plans could change but so far it's WDW at spring break!

Expect crowds and have a good attitude and you will have a great time! :goodvibes

We noticed a big increase in crowds on the weekend before Easter weekend this year. (We checked out that weekend). As long as you are not intent on commando park visits, you will have lots of fun. A good thing is that the park hours are longer, there are few rides closed for maintenance and there are extra parades/Fantasmic performances. I am a retired teacher and used to travel at peak all the time and still loved it. I must admit, however, that I am very happy to NOT be at WDW during the busiest times any more!

We planned a last-minute Spring Break trip last year. I was so worried that it would be crazy, but we were pleasantly surprised. We arrived the Wednesday after Easter and stayed for 5 days. We tried to be at the parks as soon as they opened. We went to the Magic Kingdom on the morning EMH day. Fantasyland was practically empty. My daughter was the only one in line at the Dumbo ride. We rode everything we wanted to and were ready to go back to the hotel by 11:30, just when the crowds were starting to get heavy.

With the longer park hours, we arrived early at each of the parks, rode whatever we wanted to and went back to the hotel for an afternoon nap and swim. One day we rode Expedition Everest 3 times by 10:00 a.m.

Since this was a last-minute, low-budget trip, we didn't made any ADRs which actually helped because we could be more flexible with our touring plans. We already had our APs, so the cost for our family of four was less than $1,000 for our hotel (Pop Century) and food.

After spending the afternoon at our hotel, we would go back to the parks for a few hours in the evening.

The weather was great and we had a wonderful time. We rode everything we wanted to ride. By getting to the parks early and using fastpass, we rarely waited more than 20 minutes for anything. One of my co-workers arrived the Saturday before Easter and stayed until the Thursday after. He thought it was very crowded, but I think it was his family's first trip and I don't think they had made any plans before going.

We would absolutely go back this time of year again.

April 1 to 6 is during week leading up to Easter. Three most crowded weeks of year are that one, the one beginning with Easter, and Christmas week (other spring break weeks are significantly less). The question is what are you used to? Weather should be ideal but crowds will be huge. If you generally go during off-season and feel that is overly crowded, you should probably avoid Easter time. If you have been during the crowded summer months (other than week July 4 is in which comes close to Easter), those summer huge crowds are less than what you are going to see during that week in April. Extra hours help, going early also, fastpass is a must (and for popular rides run out by noon), most crowded time of day is 10:30 to 3; some secondary attractions which are very crowded in morning can be fairly easy after 3:30, park hours are late, ressies for dinner are a must, the second nightly Fantasmic is easy to get into, people start grabbing ideal spots for daily parade up to 2 hours beforehand, non-fast pass lines for popular rides can get to over 2 hours (for most of day) and some close to 3.

you also need to consider when the local counties have off.

but Spring break is different. some of the trees only blossom then. It is so beautiful.

Ignore the kids - just enjoy all the plant life that is opening up after winter.

it is a wonderful time to be at WDW.

just remember you will be back!!! - the nights EMH weren't that bad - I am going again next year.

go early - then go late - do something else during the day.
