BWV owners

For a snack, we often head to the Boardwalk Bakery or Candy Store on our way back from the parks. Or we just go to one of the many other places on the Boardwalk. We love the crepes. You can also pick up some quick snack stuff at the Screen Door Store.

"Lite" dinner is in the eye of the beholder. With my group, there is rarely such a thing but we have gone to the ESPN Club and had sandwiches and salads which is about as lite as we can get.

The Spoodles pizza window has got some good munchies (pizza, calzones, breadsticks), as does to food cart (hot dogs, fries, etc) out on the boardwalk. We usually take this stuff back to our room... along with cookies from the bakery.

I believe I can give you a few choices. My kids have a few choices they would chime in on here.
My son is obssessed with the hot dog stand at the Boardwalk talks about it before each trip as he HAS to get there.

DD and ds 4 love the grilled chicken sandwich, I think It may be the same stand.

DD also the frozen lemonade and rootbeer floats.
I do like the Breakfastt burritos at the Bakery.
The meatball sub at Spoodles Is pretty good as well. And we don't eat meat but my SIL gets it lot. and says its very good.

we all enjoy the candy store. :cool1:

We head over to ESPN for a quickie or light meal.....can just do appetizers.

Nobody mentioned Big River Grille. IS it bad? We are planning on dinner there one night while staying at BWV. I thought it was kinda along the lines of ESPN? ANy opinions. :yo-yo:

We had a late lunch at Big River in December. It was fine. We had caesar salads and they were pretty typical of a caesar salad. :) I'd go back again.

ESPN and the BW Bakery are at the top of our list. It is followed by the Boardwalk to Go stand or a quick bite at the pool bar. We are not fans of Big River, however.

We grab a pizza at the Spoodles window or ESPN. The kids love going to ESPN, and they'll never pass up a chance for pizza!

Big River seems to get mixed reviews. However, we (11 of us ranging from age 9-60) were there last week for dinner, and really enjoyed it.

I ate lunch at the Big River Grille on my trip this past September with my 2 teenage daughters. We thought both the service and food were awful. I may have hit them on an off-day, but I am not planning on going back there again and I don't recommend it to anyone. :sad2:

Big River was just "OK" in my book. I wouldn't count it out forever, but it's not high on my list for my next trip.

We've been happy with Big River and for LATE night it may be the only option. In Dec '98 we arrived at BWV pretty late as DB/SIL's plane was delayed. We were stuck at MCO for 4-5 hours waiting for them, as we were sharing the rental car.

It was after 11 by the time we checked in at BWV and went to eat. I think BR was our only option at that time. DH and I were pretty hungry as we'd been waiting for them before eating. DB/SIL weren't hungry as they'd flown 1st class and had nice meals on both flights, plus due to the mechanical problems they'd had food vouchers in their connecting city - and of course they HAD to use them. Our server was nice enough to suggest a kid's meal for my DB (and he is WELL past childhood) as all he wanted was a hot dog.

Actually, we just ate there again this December with DB and SIL - as they were passing through on their way to the airport returning from a cruise. (We live in different states so we take any chance we get to see each other.) Again we had wonderful service with a delightful CM.

I have no doubt that others have had poor service, but we've been blessed with very good service at Big River. So, don't count it out because others don't care for it, but also I wouldn't get my hopes up for wonderful service just because that is what we've experienced.

IMHO the biggest problem with WDW restaurants is consistancy. This past trip we ate at two restaurants twice because the first time was WONDERFUL. Both times the second visit, a few days later, was so-so - in terms of food and service.

We dine at the Big River Grill everytime we stay at the BWV, which is at least once a year. My kids love sitting outside on the Boardwalk and eating. They shoot some baskets at the basketball stand and return to have there dinner. Food is always great and service has always been super. Don't understand how it's getting such a bad wrap.

We like the pizza window or ESPN. Only ate at Big River once, and it truly was the worst meal we have ever had on WDW property. Could have been an off night for both the cook AND the waitress, but we have no urge to go back there! I almost forgot, we also like to make a stop at Seashore Sweets for ice cream!

ESPN and the BRG are great for "lite" fare. We like them both. Seashore Sweets for ice cream and Spoodles window are also good for "lite" fare. But don't forget Spoodles main room.
We go into Spoodles after golf and just order a bunch of appetizers and a pitcher of Sangria. Their app.'s are excellent and would be considered "lite" if you mean the content of the meal. The prices may not be that "lite" though.
Don't forget the cart in front of the Flying Fish. They serve corn dogs and fried food.
Wherever you choose you can usually find something "lite" to eat. Besides, your in WDW, everything tastes better there!
