BWV Owners: Why BWV?

First off I would say stay there and try it out.Thats what we did and by the 2nd day we had decided to purchase it.We have stayed in all differnet rooms floors and views and have never had a problem with noise.We have also stayed at some pretty busy times (Easter ) and the pools were not that crowded.I have never heard horror stories and when I do I take them with a grain of salt.I understand that the value resorts do get full and sometimes a little wilder then the dvc resorts but there is no comparison.Good luck with your decision but I find they are easier to make when you have first hand experience.

We chose BWV for the following reasons:
1. lowers points for standard view rooms
2. kids were reaching the end of elementary school and we knew they'd eventually want a place with more "action"
3. availability of grand villas, just in case
4. location, location, location

Why BWV?
We have owned at BWV since they opened and we love it. We have had enjoyable trips to other DVC resorts but BWV will always be our favorite. We agree with all the reasons stated as to what gives BWV that added edge.
So why BWV? Like Richard Gere said to Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman, when she asked him why he always stayed in the Penthouse----"It's the Best".

For us it's primarily the location. When we bought resale, we wanted an Epcot resort, period. What made us lean toward BWV instead of BCV was the boardwalk view and the lobby at Christmas time. My kids like the clown slide pool and when we were there this past Dec it was pretty much empty. It wasn't cold either-at least not by north-east standards. I don't think any Deluxe resort is going to attract the amount of kids as one of the All Stars or Pop-even in the summer.

We had no problem with noise in Dec and we were in a boardwalk view room, 5th floor ALL the way down near JellyRolls and heard nothing. Granted, we do use those sound conditioner machines, but I think we would have heard noise if it was REALLY loud.

The themeing, especially the lobby is really beautiful. You have great dining choices both on the boardwalk as well as in the YC/BC. Plus, you can walk right into Epcot. Although, my kids prefer the boat. Same thing with MGM-it's so close. The older my boys get, the more they love MGM and Epcot. My daughter loves MGM second only to MK. I'm so happy we bought BWV, we plan to add more BWV points in about 1 1/2 years. As my boys get older with their football, we may have to vacation in the Spring-like May. I want to make sure I have plenty of points for a 2 bedroom boardwalk view!!

If you are happy with (and can plan ahead enough to get) standard view rooms you will save $. You would have to buy ~ 180 point contract at SSR to get the same buying power as 150 points at BWV (9 vs 11 points studio). This dramatically reduces your initial investment and the annual dues are then comparable with SSR. Location as well....

We added on @ BW (sight unseen) primarily because of lower stand. point requirements.

Additionally, think once DH & I are solo, it will be nice to patronize one the BW establishments & easily retire to our studio.

Lastly, think it's one of the more desireable resales.

The noise is part of the charm...

When we were first buying into DVC (SSR) our guide mentioned that his favorite resort at which to stay was BWV because of the boardwalk activities. At the time that wasn't of much interest to us.

However, since that time (last August - so long ago in DVC terms!) we now own at BWV, too. And the hubbub of activity is part of the charm. BWV doesn't have the quiet of the North Woods, nor is it laid back old Key West. It's the Jersey shore and you would expect some mild level of commotion in the background, wouldn't you?

We love the BWV because there is so much going on. They have an ice cream & candy shoppe, 3 restaurants and a pizza place, face painting, hair beading, games, jugglers, entertainers, surrey bikes, boating and great views (even if you get a sv room you can go on the back porch off the lobby and sit in one of the rocking chairs under the covered porch ) The whole atmopshere is great. It really does feel like home.

The lower points were the icing on the cake!! (The BCV don't have the boardwalk view rooms and you pay big points to look at the canal and street).

I have two children under the age of 6 right now, and without question, they love MK best.We seriously considered buying at VWL for that reason. However, when you think about it, for the bulk of my contract time they'll be big kids, then teenagers, then college kids and possibly parents themselves. To my way of thinking BWV offers more to the "older" WDW visitor. You can walk to Epcot at night and enjoy a nice ale in England, glass of wine in France or beer in Germany and get home without the hassle of a bus. You can go to Jellyrolls and have a great time or have a nice dinner at Flying Fish, watch the game at ESPN or enjoy some great food at Spoodles. Plus, there's a killer pool and nice quiet pool. Not to mention the Community Hall, which all DVC resorts do not have. You can walk out to the Boardwalk any time and grab an ice cream, hot dog, or slice of pizza. In the end, we felt that BWV would be more appealing and fun as time went on.

But that's just my two cents...

We initially bought BWV because we bought from Disney and didn't know about OKW. However, we have since added on twice, both times at BWV. We like the pool much better than SAB (DH doesn't like pools with sand) and the slide, although large the kids could still use. We like that it is close to Epcot, our favorite and MGM. However, I would be happy with any DVC resort!
