We are about ready to buy on the resale market. I am trying to deside which resort to purchase, we like them both. Which of these two resorts are harder to book at the 7 month window? This could help us deside which to purchase so we would have the 11 month advantage.

Not certain, but I would say BWV would be more difficult at the 7 month window. It really depends on the time of year you plan to travel.

As Diane said, what time of year do you plan on traveling?

Other things to consider.....

How long are you willing to wait for the right contract to come along?

Is use year important to you at all? The completely wrong use year at VWL and the perfect use year at BWVs may sway your decision.

How flexible are you on the number of points you are buying?

Are you willing to pay a little more for the right resort?

Is the difference in dues (which is pretty small between these two resorts) important at all?

Do you have a preference on which reseller you go through?

BWV points are generally more available, and generally sell for a little less. So you may have better luck finding a resale contract at a good price with a good use year for you and approximately the right number of points quickly. You may have to wait a little longer and pay a little more for your VWL contract.

I know the advice here is "buy where you want to stay," but if you'd be happy at either of these resorts - you may want to keep an open mind and just shop for the contract and see what comes up.

When we went resale shopping last year, my first bid was on an OKW contract - the important thing to me was quick (I'd made the decision and I wanted it NOW), number of points (actually $$$, I had a little over $10,000 in cash coming as a bonus and didn't want to spend more than that), and a Winter or Spring use year. When that contract was pulled (the seller decided not to sell), we'd been working with Jaki for a few days, so working with Jaki became easy. We ended up with a BWV contract.

They are both beautiful resorts, but they differ drastically in atmosphere; I would really go with the 'buy where you want to stay the MOST' philosophy. Think about it and make a pros and cons list and try to figure out which one of the two you prefer over the other, *even if* you do love both.

Or, of course, you could also split how many points you want to buy and buy half the points at BWV and half the points at VWL. Then if you want to stay a long trip at BWV one year, you would bank all of that year's VWL points into the next year, and borrow all of the next year's BWV points into the current year.

Keep in mind that Boardwalk Villas has "standard" view villas. These cost a lot less than "preferred" views or the points cost at VWL. With the 11 month prority window at BWV you should be able to book villas at nearly the same points cost as OKW.

I think JonHM has a great suggestion...buy a contract at each if you're buying enough points to split. It's a good idea to keep contract point sizes smaller anyway, in case you want to sell them.

We have contracts at both VWL and BWV. We will alternate banking and borrowing to enable each stay to be made on one contract's points only.

And down the road, we will be able to give a contract to each of our daughters for whatever years may remain after we're not able to go to WDW.

Good luck!

And know that you can't go wrong with either!
