My brother and his family moved their Nov trip when many members of our family are going. Seems his wife is expecting...AGAIN!!!

They are going the first week of May, they are not DVC members. Two of my sisters are members, but not them. They will be staying at the Swan. We had to do some canceling last year, I thought we had reservation points, so I checked out the requirements for points at the Swan....no good. No Swan options on points. So I was figuring on using my 70 or so reservation points at the Yacht Club.

It turns out that the ressie I canceled was for a GV at OKW. I then used some of those points for an AKL concierge stay....that is what had me confused, thinking that my points were reservation points. Turns out that there were regular points in 'holding'. I thought about still going with the Yacht club, but the points were so much lower at a DVC resort, I just couldn't.

BCV room locations and the location of BCV relative to the Boardwalk, forced me to chose BWV. One bedroom prefered arriving May 3 departing May 6. I would have gotten prefered anyway, the walk to my last std view was just WAY TOO FAR. I know, I got a chance of getting a similar walk, but I also have a much better chance of not having that walk with a prefered view.

I requested a BW view....I hope I am the only one that made that request.

How will you ever stand to be in those small rooms?

Maybe the walk will be so strenuous that you will be too tired to think about your lack of space?

Its going to be tough, but I do appreciate the genius of their design. It really makes for an easier vacation.

I can do the laundry, clean the dining room and kitchen, turn on the TV AND dust the entire living room, all while standing in one place.

The wife and kid are only ging to be there for the first night, we will rough it. They are leaving Sunday Morning for a horse show in Perry, Georgia. Then its me, alone in the one bedroom for two nights. I think I can handle it, there is certainly enough room for one.

I do hope that no one else requested BW view. I think arriving on a Saturday will increase my chances greatly.

Breaking news: The temperature in hell took an unexpected nosedive this morning. The cause has been narrowed down to either global warming or Richyams staying at BWV. Tune in later for more info....

Rich,

I hope your heart is doing well these days. It's a real strain on the ticker when the oxygen gets all used up in those miniscule rooms. Combined with a long walk to the elevator, yikes! Don't count on any help from the ambulance...you know they can't even park out in front of the unit...

Have a *wonderful* time!
Renee

PS: I really DO hope you're feeling well!

I thought I was seeing things when I saw Richyams and BWV in the same post.;) Hope you have a great trip!:D

WOW! Have fun. I too love OKW, but found BWV to have its own charm..... plus ya cant beat walking to Epcot!

Glad to see your expanding your DVC experiences! I know you will have a great time!

Well Richyams my DH and I will be checking in on April 30th. and leaving on May 9th. We requested a BW view also, but you're in luck we have a studio reserved not a 1bdrm. Hope some pixie dust falls on you and I on getting what we requested! Maybe we will see you there!

HA! HA!...TOO FUNNY!!!...:teeth:

Rich, seriously though, have a great time at BWV!

Okay, this is just an early April Fool's Day joke, isn't it???:jester:

Rich,

Have a good trip! I think the one bedroom will be just the right size for just yourself.

Good luck with the BW view. It would be great to be able to sit outside and people watch. And since the units are so small, you could just reach in and get a cold beer from out of the fridge without even getting out of your chair out on the balcony!!! Lol! Now that's the life!

I don't know if BWV went to the automatic thermostat yet,but if they did and you want a cold room to come back too, just take the ice cube tray out of the freezer and leave it on the dining room table. Should keep a room that size cooled down to around 60F in even the hottest weather.

ROFLMA, those are great, both of them, I just wish I had come up with them.

I just had the wierdest thing happen, a particularly abraisive and demanding client was calling, I got another call, she wouldn't let me go, I clicked anyway, "call Failed", went back, she was gone, CLICK, "NO SERVICE", five minutes later my motorola I90 Nextel start getting hot, real hot.....DEAD Phone.

I gotta run out and get a new phone....I'll let you know what I got.

Rich...you do need to fess up to these folks....this is not your first stay at BWV, is it?

Hope you have a great trip. And don't worry about the Boardwalk view....even if you get a room overlooking the quiet pool it will seem quite active after OKW! :p

that's a joke, that's a joke, that's a joke....don't flame me OKW owners!! :D

Actually, we stayed in a studio at BWI once, and this will be my third one bdr villa at BWV. once was a cash stay, booked through DU, turned out to be a std view room that was 1.2 miles down the hallway from the elevator. Once was points in a prefered view that looked out over the spooky clown. And now this trip, which I expect will be a BW view.

So far, I see that only one other person requested the BW view, so I don't think we will have a problem getting it.

All of the stays have been short. 2-3 nights...much longer and I would go stir crazy in those shoe box sized rooms. At least the BW view that I plan to get this time, will alleviate that feeling.

I know its OT, but on the way to get a new phone, I turned my phone on again, it got very hot, very fast. I was shocked and relieved when they were able to retrieve my phonebook from it.

I got the I95, its really the exact same phone with a color screen. I was looking for one of the ones I saw at Epcot. They had some real cool ones, with big, huge screens....alas, this store had only the I95 and I needed it immidietely.

I really wanted one of those cool phones that I saw in Epcot.

Rich,
Keep in mind that some of the preferred view rooms can be just as far of a hike as the standard view rooms. Specifically, the units over the boardwalk down near Jellyrolls. You can usually find a stairwell to use as a shortcut when leaving the room, but coming back up is always through the lobby (outside stairwell doors lock behind you).

As for the Nextel phone, they only needed to change the SIM card, so they don't even need to turn the phone on. I use a Blackberry enterprise email device with an integrated Nextel phone. Those are even more of a pain. LOL!
