As far as I know the room keys are deactivated once you check out. We had a 2 bedroom lockoff one year up until our last night. Our friends left the morning before we did. When we returned from taking them to the airport the room keys that had opened both the door to the studio and the door to the 1 bedroom no longer worked in the studio door and the connecting door had been locked.
As for the studio guests trying to access the one bedroom that happened to us several years beofre OKW sold out. A rather noisy family moved into the studio next door to our one bedroom. They kept trying the door handle and banging on the connecting door. The kids were hanging over the balcony railing which we could see from our living room window. I thought that they believed that the connecting door led to another part of their unit. I finally called the front desk and the front desk informed them about the make up of the units and that they were disturbing another guest.
