We just returned from BWV's when we first went into our room it was not clean.Apparently the guests prior to us had showered they left dirty wet towels and clothes in the dryer. They had also messed up the bed.
All of the soaps shampoos etc were gone.
I believe that housekeeping had cleaned the rooms because the fresh wrappers for the soaps etc. were in the garbage.Perhaps the guests went for one last dip in the pool?
That does not explain the bed.
In adddition ther was only one remote for the room.

I complained and the room was prepared while we were out to dinner.

Do I blame BWV or the prior guest /member?

I would think that when a room is deemed ready the prior guests keys should not work.
If it was a member I believe that they should be told that what they did was improper.
I was tempted to throw the items they left inthe trash but I turned them into the front desk.
IF YOU STAYED IN ROOM4129-32 your wet bikini bottoms are at the desk.

Maybe the keys did work longer then they should and somebody was able to get in....or...somebody got in the room after housekeeping and messed it up and it wasn't the member or guest...and they left in a hurry and forgot there bottoms...:earseek: :earseek: :earseek: :earseek:

Maybe they were still in the room and hiding (without bottoms) - waiting until they could flee the room...hmmmmm:smooth:

I think this beats the Roast left in the oven story.::yes::

I would have tossed those belongings faster than you could blink. You are obviously much nicer than I am.::yes::

I bet it was the former guest and if so I agree this was a very unethical thing to do. I am 99% positive the housekeeping staff did not leave the villa in that condition! I have always thought that the keys are probably active until midnight of your check out day. The reason I say this is, we stay at non DVC resorts for the last couple of days of our trip, a lot. At non DVC resorts they do have late check outs until 1 PM at no charge (if available) or you can pay 1/2 of whatever rate you got for the room and stay in the room until 5-6 PM. We have done both many, many times when we had a late flight and wanted to spend the last day at the resort pool and be able to take showers etc before leaving for the airport. Disney has never once in my many experiences with extremely late check outs, ever issued us new keys or re coded our existing keys. Also the keys are valid for room charging until midnight of the day you check out. Just my theory and I am only speculating, but I have always said that I think the keys will work until midnight for both charging and room entry.
I hope you enjoyed the rest of your stay at BWV.

Yuck!!...but LOL on the PSA about the personal items at the front desk!!!

This is kind of like the people staying in the studio next door to us in the 1bdr...they kept trying the connecting door, and knocked on it...what were they going to do? Come on in and use the facilities? Maybe they figured they could use a 1bdr - for "free" - if the door had been unlocked...:scratchin:

Go figure...

:sunny:

My other concern was that these people may still have acess to my rooms.
When I asked they CM at desk she did not seem to comprehend my security concern.

Altough she seemed shocked and almost personaly responsible for the dirty room.

I would guess that the guests were earlybirds and left their room early in the morning. Housekeeping came in right after they left. This was before check out time. The guests then came back from their swim, while not having yet checked out and found their room made up already. Housekeeping made a mistake in not realizing that this was a check-out day for the guest and in assuming the guests wouldn't return. They just cleaned too early. I would think that housekeeping usualy wouldn't clean the rooms of guests who are to check out until shortly after actual check-out time.

With express checkout, most guests don't go to the front desk to checkout. Housekeeping wants to get the rooms ready as soon as possible, so they knock on the door and if no one answers, they enter and start their work. If they waited until 11:00 to start the rooms, no one would get into their rooms before 4:00. I wonder if their luggage was still there when housekeeping cleaned the room?

Another possibility is someone checked in, used the room and then asked for a room change. Housekeeping or the front desk messed up and the room wasn't recleaned. That's why they charge members the change fee, for recleaning.

Our first trip at members, we checked in at noon, and got our room assignment about 4. We went back over to OKW to get settled in before our dinner ressies. When we opened the door, a suitcase was on the bed in the master, adn the kitchen towel was waded up on the little shelf by the door. There were also bath towels that had been used. draped over the kitchen counter. Thank heavens there was no one in the room! We went back to the Hospitality House, and they said the person had promised they would have their luggage out of there by noon. Obviously, they came back and used the room instead. They gave us a different unit right away. The last I heard, they were charging the former resident's card for an extra day.

I am inclined to think this is what happened, too. Our experience has been they start knocking every 15 minutes between 8 and 9am checking to see if we're gone. If someone were to pack up their belongings and head to the pool for one last swim prior to check out time I can certainly see this happening.

If it happened to me, I think I would at least call housekeeping to let them know that my room was cleaned before I was finished with it and it needed to be redone. Of course, maybe the previous guest did this and no action was taken...

Anyway, since this COULD be what happened, I think throwing away their items would be a little harsh. I'm glad you thought better of it and turned them in...

My guess is that with regard to the electronic keys...once a new key is issued for that room, the old one probably becomes non-functional.

On our first visit to OKW years ago, we got up early on day of departure....packed our van.....except for a few essentials and went to an early breakfast. When we came back to the room (before checkout time and before we have checked out) it was cleaned and our personal essential items were gone. We called the front desk and they said they would call us right back. Awhile later, housekeeping showed up at our door with our personal items. They told us they thought we had oeft and forgot our tiems.
So, I think I agree with anohter poster, that housekeeping knocks to see if you have left yet. If no answer, they assume you are gone and go in and clean.

I sure hope so! Otherwise that is a huge security issue.

We've gotten into the habit of using the 'do not disturb' door hanger on the day of check-out. If we get up and go to breakfast or a park, then come back for our stuff, we don't want to take the chance. We just put the hanger out, and as long as we're back by 11, no problems.

We use the DND hanger as well - that we way if we leave for a quick morning outing and come back mousekeeping has not wasted their efforts in cleaning the room

thanks

Using the "do not disturb" sign has worked about 50% of the time for me regarding housekeeping. They still come knocking at the crack of dawn every 15 minutes even if you tell the person you will leave by 1100. I call housekeeping after I hang up with bell services to come get my bags so they know I am on my way out for this reason. I would like to think that the people went out for a few hours and returned only to find the room cleaned and somehow housekeeping didn't follow up. As for leaving items, maybe they just forgot!! One can only hope!!

I love the DVC.Boardwalk it's our home resort .I have however only used BWV 2 times.
The first time we we kept up all night by ungodly sounds coming from the plumbing. This time the room was not clean when we checked in.Every other DVC was PERFECT.It just makes me wonder if the Quality control at BW is lower.

We have stayed at BWV many, many times and also stay at the other resorts on a very regular basis........
We have never seen the "Quality Control" being anything but excellent at all WDW resorts; this includes all DVC and non DVC resorts.
