BWV all lock out?

Please refresh my memory... all BWV "2br" are lock-out, correct? So you could always shut the door, if need be, between the 2 rooms. I can shut and lock a door between the rooms for privacy if needed, correct? (Just like "adjoining" rooms -- both parties have a door and the option to open it / close it? Or is it one door, and it's either always open or always shut, lockable by mgmt only?)

ANd is the only "benefit" to booking the 2 rooms (1 br and studio) separately that you could charge $$ to your room keys for each room?

For the time window we are looking at, a 2br is 428 pts. Booking the rooms separately (as a 1br and studio) would be 312 + 155 for a total of 467. (Std view, Aug 2004 timeframe)

Just can't see paying 39 more pts for technically the same rooms... am I missing something here?

That is correct, BWV is all lockoff for the 2 BR though there are dedicated 1 BR and studio units.

I booked seperately (requesting lockoff) for my Feb 2004 trip. My reason was the lack of total confirmation from family members. This way, if someone backs out, I still have a guaranteed room if I downsize. MS told me I could call back closer to the time and change it to a 2BDR to save the points.

(On another subject, this topic leads to my confusion how they always have the right number of points sold if the identical space can take 2 different point values! Maybe it's just me)

You know, I though about that (being able to cancel "half" of the room if you book separately) -- but in our case, we would probably just consume the space anyway... I'm not keen on unfolding that sleeper sofa anyway. But you make a valid pt. That's antoher reason why I shy away from the BWV GV -- it's cheaper to get two 2brs and then if anyone bails out, you can ditch one of the ressies. I imagine getting 2 separate rooms would also behoove you if changing your ressie in any way might mean a whole different points level (i.e. you booked a 2 br std view, and now your family bailed and you only need a 1 br....) TECHNICALLY... wouldn't that 1br become available (if the CM acted fast enough) as part of your return of the 2 br? Who knows -- and it's not a question I care to answer by firsthand experience!

And as for confusion -- I agree. If anything, I would think a 2 br would be "more" costly pts wise. Afterall, they have to assure you that a 1 br and studio that are adjacent and inter-connected are available, at the same time. In the studio / 1 br case, they could stick you in any 1 br or studio they can find. Maybe it's because 1BR and studios are in higher demand that the "combo".... but it still seems weird in the BWV case, considering they are all one in the same.

There are some minor savings and benefits to the system having the 2 BR booked over a separate 1 BR and studio. Less checkin staff, parking issues, etc. If the resort is full and you cancel, in this case cancel a 2 BR and try for a 1 BR, the room would go to the wait list person first. I also think that they have rules on how many they split so no guarantees they'd split it regardless.
