I'm looking at options for a January trip and would LOVE BWV. We have 5 people going and we absolutely can't use a studio, we would need 2 of them. So whatever dates I put in, the 2 Bedroom doesn't show up in the list, even with the "no availability" note. Are 2 bedrooms only available to DVC? Any ideas???

2 bedrooms are hard to get for even DVC members at BWV because they have no dedicated units. It is always a lockoff with a 1 bed and a studio.

January is also a busy time for DVC. You might have better luck at AKL, SSR and OKW.

2 bedrooms at BWV were eliminated from cash inventory some time ago. If you want a 2-bedroom villa in the EP resort area, consider BCV or, if you are willing to take the Skyliner, RIV. At RIV, you have more villa options as the deluxe studio and 1-bedroom also sleep 5 and the beds are far more comfortable there than the pull-outs in some of the other DVC villas. You could certainly book a 1-bedroom and studio at BWV and request connecting, but they wouldn't guarantee it. If you don't need a washer/dryer or kitchen, you can also call Swan/Dolphin directly to book suites which will price out much less than a 2-bedroom villa, if Swan/Dolphin interests you at all.

You could also try renting points to book the 2-bedroom at BWV, but, as PP noted, they are hard to get.

BWV is a DVC resort. Only a small percntage of the points there are owned by Disney. Like anyone else who owns there, Disney can book those rooms at 11 months out and then they sell them to cash guests. It's quite possible that Disney either sold any rooms that they could reserve or they shifted their points to be used at another time or resort.

Regardless, there's no cash inventory right now. But DVC inventory is an entirely different story. January is not typically a busy DVC month with the exception of the few days following New Years Day, MLK Weekend and Marathon Weekend. Even so, you could probably find a garden/pool view 2BR if you rent from an owner. Otherwise, Disney can take unreserved inventory from DVC at 60 days out and sell it for cash. You might get lucky enough to snag one then.

Time is of the Essence renting DVC. Sooner usually means more options.

For BW 2br in Jan the only category that still has decent availability is pool/garden. Standard and Boardwalk view are slim pickin’s of a couple days here and there. BC is the same points as BW garden/pool (no room view categories at BCV) and still has decent availability too. It’s going to come down to the specific dates you need whether they work for you or not. If you’re interested tho, I’d try the rental boards to find an owner ASAP. Keep in mind rentals are mostly non-refundable.

A connecting 1 BR and studio is a 2 BR, so if they were available they’d be listed and booked as a 2 BR.

OP, I think that renting is your best way to get a 2 BR, unless you want to wait and hope that Disney offers some for cash.

Disney cash inventory for 2BR everywhere else is always a dedicated. I don:t know that Disney do any cash bookings for 2BR at either BWV or Jambo for that reason.
