Alright so we decided on BWV over OKW after the wonderful comments we heard from our last post....now we must decide which type of view????? What are the pros/cons of each view? What does each view entail (aka the pool, parking lot, Epcot)? Why such a large difference in price? Thanks for your comments.

Standard views are along the front driveway and around the corner across from the valet parking lot/tennis courts. Preferred views are Boardwalk, Swan/Dolphin, main pool, quiet pool. I prefer to save the points and get standard view. We had standard view the last 2 Decembers and could see the fireworks from Illuminations and even hear the music. We were facing the bus stop on the 3rd or 4th floor. The first year we had preferred view and even though I requested a Boardwalk view at 11 months, we got a quiet pool view, 4th floor. It wasn't bad, we could see the canal and MGM but I didn't think it was worth the extra points.

The difference in points is due solely to the views. Evidently, when BWV opened, there was quite a furor over the same amount of points being charged for the entryway/parking lot views as for a Boardwalk view.

The solution was to assign the driveway/parking lot view rooms a lesser point charge. Everything else became preferred.

If view is not important, then the standard views are fine. Also remember that these rooms tend to get gobbled up quickly at the 11 month mark, so if you're trying at the 7 month mark they could well be already spoken for.

Good luck!:)

Preferred view is more flexible in that there are more preferred views available and they are significantly easier to book. We plan all our trips assuming we will use a preferred view. Its nice to be able to have the option of trying for a standard view room, but it seems to me to be a bad idea to count on it - unless you are willing to call day by day at eleven months (which isn't always necessary, but if you are counting on the standard view.....)

I don't rent my points because its too much hassle, but if I did rent my BWV points, I wouldn't rent to someone looking for SV points - too many potential availability hassles . (This is me only - I'm sure there are plenty of people willing to call for SV points)

When we stayed at BWV in 2001 we had to reserve preferred view because that was all that was available for 2bdroom(7 months out). Be careful, our view was overlooking another building with a small flowered area and that was considered preferred! At the time the guidebook said boardwalk or water view..this was not. We originally did not even want ot spend the extra points for the view, but this was not what we thought. Asked at the desk and CM was very rude and said can't do anything(one reason we like OKW so much is a better attitude all around). We I returned home I called MS and explained and they refunded the extra points I had to use. I have never requested any specific accomodation accept non-smoking or complained about any accomodations I have recieved at OKW since 1994..this was the first complaint and also the reason I won't return to BWV.
