I'm a single mom taking two 16 year old girls to Disney for 4 days. We have gone many times and have always stayed at Wilderness Lodge, which I love. However we are now booked at Boardwalk Inn (decided to try something different)... I'd like to know how these 2 places compare.

I thought the boardwalk area would have more stuff for the girls to do, Wilderness Lodge area is pretty quiet. But I like quiet and during the day the girls will sometimes be off on their own (at Magic Kingdom, I'm not big on rides) so is BWI nice... sophistacated?

Lastly does anyone have some ideas about some unique things we might do, my daughter will celebrate her 16th birthday while we are there?

Many thanks!

pixiegirl, WL is our favorite resort followed next by the BWI.

There is more in close proximity to the BWI so the girls should really like it.

I think you'll like it too, but the WL will always be our favorite.

The girls will LOVE it. The first time I stayed there me & my brother where in our teens & we loved to go downstairs to the Boardwalk once my parents couldn't stay up any longer. Me & my brother are always talking about that specific trip when the Disney topic comes up. We had so much fun. There was so much to do. In addition to the Boardwalk they will also have MGM & EPCOT walking distance away. I love BWI/V. It's my favorite resort, hands down!

As for special things there are many that came to my head. You could plan a spa day. GF & SSR have a spa with everything from manicures to skin treatments to massages. Also, a little more expensive, but a fireworks cruise is a lot of fun. We did the Wishes fireworks cruise for my mom's B-day. They decorated the boat & included a Birthday cake, drinks & chips to enjoy on the boat. Also, GF now does a 45 minute, 20 photo shoot. They take you all through the GF resort taking photos.

That's all I could think of for now. I just tried to think of the things I would have loved for my sweet 16. Hope it helped.
