BWI Upgrade at check in costs

We are paying for a standard view room in early November, but are thinking of changing our reservation to a Boardwalk View. However, I have read posts where if you ask upon check in, and there is a room available, people were offered it at a much reduced rate. Has anyone had this experience. We are not looking for a free upgrade, but the difference is around $900 for our trip to upgrade the reservation if we do it now.

I tried this at BC once. They offered the regular price difference to upgrade. We declined.

We tried this at WL, and they quoted us the regular rack rate for the upgrade - and we had our ressie with an AP discount, so it wasn't worth it to us at that point.

I haven't heard that this happens, but you could ask and see.

I think as others have said it would be rack rate. First time we stayed at the BWI we wanted club level and none was there. I called every other day. I also called the night before & talk to a Guest rep and she said to ask when I got there. When we check in they had a club level room & just paid the difference.

If you really want it book it now as they might not have it when you check in MHO

As others have said, you will most likely be quoted rack rate to upgrade if a room is available. If you booked at a discount, the discount would not carry over to the upgrade.
