BWI shortcuts?

I've been searching & reading thru posts of shortcuts via stairs & such to make it easier to navigate the resort but they are somewhat vague. Can anyone give me details how to get around? Our room will be over the bakery if that helps to explain. TIA

I can't help you, except for a bump, maybe.

That place is weird. I found the easiest way to get where I had to go was to hit the lobby and go from there.

The concierge staff swore to me that there was no faster way for me to get where I wanted to be (usually the pool) than that. Maybe they lied...

The BWI is a great resort, but the layout is not the best. I agree with MouseWorshipin, as we got lost a couple of times trying to find a shortcut, including being in the wrong direction.

Our room was over Spoodles and it was easier to take the elevators to the lobby and walk down the main stairs by the bar to the boardwalk. That is one of the downsides of staying there, no direct access to the boardwalk.

This is off the subject, but don't forget to try the eclairs from the bakery. My DH, DS and DMother loved them and wanted them every night.

I really wish there was a shortcut.

One tine, out room was right above the ESPN Club. The (seemed like) 10 minute walk to the main elevators and then the walk back to the ESPN club on the way to Epcot (20 minutes to end up right where I was :teeth: .

There were stairs right by the room, but they led to the courtyard by the quiet pool. I am sure from there there were some "CM only" doorways which could have gotten me out to the boardwalk.

Mmm...I'll do that!

BWI seems even more complicated than BC

I think the stairs someone(lives4disney)mentioned are right at the entrance to the Innkeepers Club. So if you are assuming your room will be over the bakery those stairs would be very convienient for you.

I have never used the stairs myself so I don't know where they lead.

Hi. I thought all the deluxe concierge rooms were over the bakery. Right?

I don't know where the deluxe rooms are located, but we had a regular room over the Flying Fish area and all I ever did to get to the pool was walk down the hallway toward the lobby and take the elevators. When staying on the other side when renting DVC points I once found a stairwell but it was a plain, concrete looking stairwell with a carpet steamer and hundreds worth feet of cord attached that was parked inside it-- so while the stairs were a little faster, they definitely had MUCH less ambience than the pretty hallway and elevators! ;)

No, over the bakery would be across from the lounge. There are rooms just as you go into the Innkeepers Club(above Seashore Sweets) as well, and I know there are deluxe rooms on other floors above Seashore Sweets as we toured them.

If you look at a picture of the BW and you see the long balcony that is the Steeplechase Suite the deluxe rooms would be maybe a few rooms down on either side.

As far as Ladyhawke said I think the staircase you are talking about would be as she described. It's just for a fire exit that's why when they put the new door in for concierge they put it past the staircase.

If you are comparing it to the walk to the BC concierge from say the elevator our room at the BC was much closer.

I hope this isn't too confusing. :sunny:

I guess I am a little confused. I have a picture of the Boardwalk on my desktop & can't seem to figure it out. I thought KerryCM had told me that the deluxe rooms are all grouped together but I guess I was mistaken. Thank you for the information. :)

Ok. I've stared at my desktop for a few minutes. I do see the long balcony in the middle. Does it make much of a difference which side you are on? I'm wondering if I should make a request other than 4th floor.

We stayed in room 4251, which is directly to the right of the Steeplechase Suite. I don't know about the differences between the interiors of the rooms, but I do know that you're closer to the concierge lounge if you stay on the left side of that suite.

We have stayed at BWI several times and have yet to find a shortcut to the pool! We go down the pretty staircase next to the Belleview Lounge which leads outside. If you go right you will be at Flying Fish. If you go straight across the courtyard area towards the art store there is an alley where Muscles and Bustles fitness center is and through the alley is the entrance to the Luna Park pool area.

Darned if I know another way to get to this pool. Always seemed odd that there was no direct resort access to the pool from within the resort without going into the public area. Maybe we are missing it? Anyone here know another way?

I wish I paid more attention when we walked around the BWI last summer.

If you're interested in walking to MGM, cut through the pool area and pick up the walkway there. It's a pleasant walk (about 15 minutes or so), but not a trip to take in the blazing mid-day sun. :scared:

If you prefer the boat: you can save several minutes on the way BACK from MGM by getting off at the Swan/Dolphin and just hot-footing it over the bridge to the Board Walk. Otherwise, you have to take the boat to the YC/BC and THEN the BW.

We love the BW and stay there whenever possible on our DVC points. But I agree: navigating it can be a nightmare.

Thank you for the tip.

Their really aren't many shortcuts. That's the big gripe about the BWI, that you have to go through the public area to get to Luna park. Now the quiet pool only takes a left off the elevator on the lobby floor and down the stairs.

I was only commenting on the deluxe rooms as far as location, but yes if you look at the Steeplechase balcony to the left would be across from the lounge.

Oh boy! I had no idea BWI was confusing. I better pack some bread crumbs . . .
