I'm alittle worried. We switched our ressie from YC to BWI not too long ago and I thought the only contruction going on there is at the grand villas. We will be there May1-8 and I just read on another post there is construction on the BW and by the pool!! Please tell me this isn't so, that it will be done by the time we get there?:( Anyone just back from staying there? Who should I call to find out more info?

You can call Guest Services to ask about the schedule of construction and when it is supposed to be finished. It is still going on. I was there April 2. The front of the resort (boardwalk side) is covered in scaffolding, netting and temporary wall. It does look pretty sorry. :(

I just called the BWI and spoke to the font desk about the construction. Well I heard what I didn't want to hear:( The construction will be going on until next year!! And yes I double checked with a manager about it going on till next year. It seems to be extensive contruction, scafolding and renovations on the BW shops, grand villas, pool area, painting and rehabs on some rooms. Now I'm really bummed!! There is no availability at the YC for my stay, should I just cancell my ressie at the BWI and stay at the BC? They have availability.

that is all true, but over on the dvc boards, it was asid that all of the pools/game room are open and will be during the renovations. Also, the grand villas are mostly the ones closed right now for renovations (on the inside)

The latest DVC newsletter says this about the construction,

"Work will continue on the Villa quiet pool through March 30. On March 31, work begins by the Luna Park pool on the elevations and building facades. Both pools will be available and are unaffected by the project."

In addition, there is a pool on the BWI side that should not be under construction.

We are staying at the BWI in May. There was a post in February that said all renovations on the BWI side have been completed. There is work going on through 2003 on the BWV and the BW shops. And since the Luna Park pool will still be open during the renovations, I don't think it will be to bothersome if you are staying at the Inn not the Villas. I'm glad Disney keeps their hotels looking so nice!

Thanks for the replies, but, I knew everything would still be open during renovations. I just don't know if I want to stay there and have all this going on around me. It wouldn't be that important if we were going to be in the parks all day, but this trip we planned on spending alot of time at our resort, swimming and relaxing and rent water mice. Dh said he doesn't want to see scafolding at his hotel while he's on vacation! So, I think I may have to change my ressies again:confused:

I'm glad they are working on the bw it did look a bit tired last time we visited, so I 'm sure glad the work is being done. Desnik did you know that the bw does not have a marnia for water mice I believe you have to go to yc anyway, for this. I would definately take the yc/bc there pool is so much cooler! & they have the marina. Try a breathless cruise, so worth the money!:smooth:

I'm a DVC owner just got back in March...and while there is alot of scaffolding I never thought once about how it did or did not impact the enjoyment of my stay....

I love all the amenities of the boardwalk and the scaffolding is not important.

I would double-check with any resort you switch to about scaffolding. Early May is a time when they spruce up for the upcoming summer season and you are likely to find scaffolding at any resort.

I think there is some up at YC/BC too.

Disney is good, they cover the things with netting.
