Allie and
Jackie -- Thanks for the kind words about my work situation.
Jackie, sorry to hear you may face the same thing. Also, I cannot tell you how many weeks of marathon training over the past 10 years that I have done when long runs were all I could manage because of work, or kids, or parent care, or LIFE! I think the folks who stick with running (or walking, in my case) accept a certain amount of ebb and flow sometimes. Certainly, we'd all like to be able to maintain a solid level of training all the time, but I give you points for keeping at it at whatever level your life permits.
Allie, good for you and your dog! I have three and none of them are suited to marathon training -- which is just as well since I do so much of my training on the treadmill.
Jessica -- Not too many words of wisdom. Run your own race and, if possible, try to enjoy it. I have done a lot of races, and as a walker (not even a race walker), I am nearly always at the back of the pack. In 95% of the races, I've been very well taken care of, so the odds are definitely with you that you'll have a great time. Looking forward to your report!
As for me this week -- Lots of opportunities for strength training with my work buddies both at a neighborhood gym near the office and at a home gym with one couple. That has boosted my hours for the team. I am also doing 5 miles or more at least 3 times a week now -- and sometimes some additional shorter walks. Still doggedly pursuing my weight loss goal for
Disneyland, which is THIS MONTH!!! I leave with my son on the 28th!
For 7/25-7/31:
Hours: 9:15 (walking and at the gym)
Miles: 28.10 (walking)
Thanks, again, to
Chris for keeping up with this stuff. And welcome back to
Kathy "Valentine"!!!!
Keep it up, Buzzies!!! I'll think of you all as my son and I do the Toy Story themed 5K in Disneyland in just a few weeks!
