BUZZ's Brigade - TEAM CHALLENGE - POST MILES/HOURS HERE

Wow! Jackie, those totals rock!!! :woohoo: :thumbsup2

I am kind of disappointed that all of my cross-training is really preventing me from racking up miles. 2 days a week I am working on upper body & core with a personal trainer and 2 days a week I am doing lower body strength training (which he assures me will ultimately improve my times). I haven't been running every day, like I wanted to because the PT said it could negatively impact weight loss, and suggested every other day, especially since I am trying to improve my times and my legs need rest.

Anyway, tonight is a 5k. I am looking forward to running since I haven't had time to run since Monday morning. I hope my legs and hips remember how it's done! :cool1:

Interesting - DH suggested I start doing weights on the lower legs to improve my times. I kinda rolled my eyes, even though I remember Craig saying the same thing a few weeks ago! I'm trying to run 3 miles 2x/week, bike 1x/week, do upper body and Pilates 3x/week, and then do the LR on Saturday. Sometimes the bike and upper body share a day so I can take a day off. That schedule, however, is a "perfect" week, and it rarely happens.

Good luck on the 5K!

Jackie

Great pictures Cam!

Totals:

Miles: 28
Hours: 5:55

Slowly ramping up the miles/time as my first 10k is now less than a month away:eek:

All right! First miles in a few weeks.

Miles: 7
Time: 50 miutes

Not much but it's a start. To think, I used to put those miles in on a Monday night, not the whole week. I'll get back there.

enjoy,
Duane

Thanks Cam. Beautiful family. Beautiful story. Thanks for sharing and bringing YOUR joy to so many people!

You keep healing Duane. Welcome back.

My Miles (or lack thereof)

Miles 5.06
Time 1:11

All right Buzzies, it's sad when I have to go to page 2 to find our thread... :sad2:

Totals for the week:

Miles: 18.38
Hours: 5:01

I'm backing off for a few weeks and trying a combination of C25K and my regular weekend long runs with the Galloway group. I think it will work out to just 2 days of C25K instead of 3, with a LR on Saturday, but like Cam, I'm trying to increase the distance that I'm able to run and I'm hoping this may help. My weekly mileage may drop a little unless I get back on the bike, but I took a week off from that too to let my body heal a little from overdoing things last week!

Jackie

I'm right there with you Jackie. I took last week completely off. 2 weeks of chemo, work, the heat......but I'm back I'm back up and running as of tomorrow!:mickeyjum I promise. (This is my motivation to honor my commitment!)

So....My first 0.

Take care everybody!

Oh, Mike you definitely have a good excuse for NOT exercising last week. Glad you are feeling better now. My neighbor's sister just had her first chemo treatment last Thursday, and she was feeling pretty rough yesterday. I admire you for even attempting exercise while doing chemo. :thumbsup2

Oh, and I just realized that I never checked in last week. :headache: Sorry Chris.

Totals for the week of 7/4 - 7/10 :

Miles: 3.6

Hours: 4:06:11

(I included the rafting because it was HARD work for the arms and the buttocks ;) ) Just imagine that I had a claw on my left butt cheek keeping me IN the boat. :rotfl2:

Totals for the Week of 7/11 - 7/17:

Miles: 12.39

Hours:
5:29:26

Ok I had to stop yesterday's run early. I tried the 10 minute rule. You know that if you feel pain, run for 10 minutes and if you still do - QUIT. Well, after 10 minutes it had greatly reduced, but at about 20, when I was going uphill, I felt shooting pain in my left buttock and down my left leg. I don't know what I did, but IT HURT!!!! I have a 5K tomorrow night. I have taken an NSAID, and rested it. It feels some better today, but I'm worried about the race tomorrow. I'm running with a friend, or I would probably just NOT do it. Also, it's an evening race and my son has never come to watch me run (because they are usually in the AM and much to early for a 15 yo to get up for. ;) ) and he is going to come tomorrow. Any other suggestions would be welcomed. :goodvibes

Chris, have you found our missing teammates? I hope everyone is ok, and just busy because of summer. I know I haven't had time to check the weekly thread, and I'm waaayyy behind on a lot of my TR threads.

My best friend gave me a nice bike last week, so I was forced off my butt to go ride. Unfortunately that is the only "real" exercise I got all week.

Total: 30 minutes - would have been more, but I had forgotten how many muscles can hurt when you haven't ridden a bicycle in 18 years. :lmao:

Hi everyone!

Allie - Good luck w/ your 5k tomorrow night! I don't think I've ever heard about a Saturday night 5k around here. Sounds fun! Hope your leg is feeling better and you are able to run pain free.

Jackie and Mike - Sorry to hear you're not feeling well. Hope this coming week brings lots of good things as you ease back into it.

Totals:

Miles: 26
Hours: 4:55

Have a great weekend everyone:cool1:

My 5K went really well. My friend and I finished in 39:20 and 39:22 respectively. Not bad considering the HEAT. Yes there was still heat at 7:15 tonight. :rotfl: I did a minor report on the KUDOS thread if you want more details. My son got back into town in time to see me, so that was a highlight for me. :goodvibes He's 15, and doesn't like getting up early to see my usual races, and he had just gotten into town from a week mission trip with the youth group, so I know he wanted to be at home resting, but I was glad he came to support his ole' mom. :thumbsup2 (how was that for a run-on sentence? :rotfl2: )

Jeeze Allie, I wish I could run as long as your last sentence :)

Mike, how lazy can you get. Couple of rounds of Chemo and you sit around??? You know I am kidding, I can't imagine going through what you are going through.

I've been out of town then my Granddaughter and Daughter in Law showed up from Germany for a few weeks. Military flights so you never know when they can get here.

But, since I received the OK from my Dr to walk I have been going every day.

Week ending 7/17/08:
Time: 280
Miles: 36 miles (thanks to the stationary bicycle.

enjoy,
Duane

Hi, everyone! Just wanted to check in to see how everyone is doing. I am so sorry that I apparently never posted my miles and times last week, and haven't gotten to it yet for this past week. I do have significant numbers to report, I promise! I just have to compile it all. I may have to have my DH, Howard (keenho) put together a spreadsheet for me, like he keeps.

Mike - sending you gentle hugs and lots of prayers. Don't overdo it. You shouldn't let your body get tired. I do hope the exercise provides an outlet for you.

My miles are diminishing a bit. I've been working a lot on strength training - anywhere from 2-4x/week. I still have core muscle weakness that puts me at risk for injury, especially as I ramp up the running and my body takes the impact from all the extra weight I am (still) carrying.

I hope we see our missing teammates around here more often, even if not to post times/miles, but to let us know how they are doing. I know Kathy is away on vacation, but am hoping she'll be back on the boards later this week.

Hugs to all! Have a fabulous day!

Hi Buzzies.

we are just past mid way to Marathon weekend so I'm working on the team rosters. If y'all know of anyone on the roster who has had to drop off and go inactive please give Kathy or your co captain a shout.

Cam, racewalking strengthens the core muscles, hint hint.

Updating Panda:hippie:

Good morning Buzzies!

Sorry I have been MIA the last two weeks. My training has kind of taken a nose-drive.

No excuse really but I did have an unfortunate TM incident......a week before we left for our cruise my nephew had asked if he and a few of his frat buddies could stay one night at the house while they were visiting Chicago from Louisville. I said sure no problem. Since I was going to gone at work the next day, I kind of spur of the moment decided to hide the safety/activation cord so that they wouldn't decide to use the TM for any reason....not that I thought they would, but I track my mileage and I just didn't want any of them to be tempted and mess with my TM. So I hid the cord, they spend a night no problems, we go on our cruise, I don't do anything the first week we are back as I am busy with laundry and getting caught up at home. Finally though I am ready to get back into my routine, get all dressed in my workout clothes, hop on the TM and realize there is no cord.....oh ya, I put it somewhere. Hmm, where did I put it?? Somewhere safe I am sure.....oh NO, I don't remember where I put it. I know I didn't put it in my usual safe place where I keep important papers and such, so, where is it? I don't know because it still has not turned up. Fortunately DH came to my rescue and jury-rigged something for me to use, but I've been so bummed about being so forgetful that I haven't put in any miles. That is going to change tomorrow I promise!!

This made me laugh because it is something I would do. I hope you find it soon!!

Hi team. Sorry to be absent for awhile. I have numbers, I just need to calculate them on a Friday - Thursday basis (the program I use only does it Monday through Sunday - thus, I must do math). I'll try to do that soon!

Hi, everyone! I'll be back tomorrow to report this week's numbers, but here they are for the past two weeks:

week ending 7/10 -- 343 minutes and 18.02 miles
week ending 7/17 -- 320 minutes and 14.5 miles

Oh, and since 7/7, I've done 1,775 push ups and 1,700 crunches (besides the ones I do with my personal trainer)

Cam - WOW on the crunches and pushups! :woohoo: I was looking at last year's log and saw my totals when we were all doing "Cam's Crunch Challenge" - I need to get back to it too. I do them on the mornings I do upper body, but that's the only time.

Pat - Has the TM cord turned up yet? :lmao:

WHERE are our teammates? And our captains? :confused3

Totals for last week:

Miles: 10.45
Hours: 3:05
