HI all:

I am returning to work as an RN, I've been out of the profession for 20 years. I am going through an RN refresher, I've done 2 modules online and now I am ready for 90 hours clinical. The facility I will be working in doesn't have restrictions as to specific colors, so I am looking to get one, maybe two. Not knowing where I will be working I may not have the flexability to wear what I want, am I better going with solid colors?

Thanks in advance!

Some hospitals provide them free of cost.

WalMart sells some cheaply, too.

WorknGear and like places sell them, often on sale.

Online AllHeart is good, used to be Jasco.

Good luck. Would be interested in hearing how it is returning after 20 years sometime!

Wal-Mart has them the cheapest I've seen around...

As far as colors...I'd probably go with solids.

I bought mine at walmart. They have these great utility scrub pants that are so comfy.

I've bought a bunch at this store called Value Depot, not sure if there's one up by you, but it's basically what my mom calls a "junk store". They sell a little bit of everything at really cheap prices. I've gotten scrub sets for $6 from there before, good ones with an elastic waistband. So if you have such stores in your area, see if there are any there. Otherwise, allheart.com usually has some on clearance. Wal-mart sells nice ones, I like the cargo style ones because there is plenty of room for everything.

As far as the colors go, every facility will be different. At the hospital I'm at now, floor nurses have to wear white scrubs, ICU/CCU nurses can wear any color/pattern scrubs. CNA's wear white scrub pants with a dark purple top. Transport wears navy blue scrubs. Surgery can wear any color solid scrubs, and everyone else has to wear business casual.
So just get whatever you want, because chances are, wherever you end up working will have their own code.

I'm an RN, and I always get solids when we order new scrubs at work. Some people get the prints, but I just don't think prints look very professional. The only setting where I'd wear them might be in pediatrics as a distraction technique, but I'd be picky.

Thanks everyone, I'll be off to WalMart tomorrow to check it out.

I buy them at Walmart and I also make my own tops I bought a pattern from Joannes and I can usually make one for under $10.
