Currently you can purchase as few as 25 points as an add-on if paying cash or credit card. If you financed by Disney, the minimum is 50 points.
An add-on direct from Disney will have the same use year. The only way to get a different use year from Disney is to buy a new master contract of 160 points or more.
Does an add-on need to be at the same resort as the master contract? We're getting ready to take the plunge and will want to have both AKL and BLT as home resorts. We were thinking buying an AKL contract and then adding on just enough BLT to allow a book a stay there at the 11-month window every other year.
Would there be any advantages or incentives in buying at BLT as soon as it goes on sale? I plan on doing my first add on contract there and I was debating whether I should wait to see what promotional offers come later in the year.
I am buying points the first day they are available.
To add to your list: 6) DuesI am so on the fence about this....I really want to buy at BLT but it comes down to price. Yes, one side believes that it will be around the $100 per point for the following reasons:
1) The poor economy
2) Due to the poor economy the number of resales has increased so why pay $100 or more when you can pick up a resale for $75. No, you would not get the 11 month window but for that great of a price difference you may chance it.
3) With skyrocketing airfare and gas prices-attendance may go down so you might even get the BLT at the 7 month window.
4) AKV will not be sold out by the time they start to sell BLT and I doubt they would increase the price of AKV from $96 to over $100 nor would there be such a difference in price between to two.
5) Did I mention the poor economy?
On the other hand they may ask something outrageous because they want to see what they can get. That is what makes me think I too shall 'hold out.'
