Buying resale with Reservation Points

I noticed a decent looking contract for sale, but it includes some reservation points. I know those can be used for the Disney Collection options, but I believe that’s restricted for resale purchases based on the 2011 restriction. I believe that is a contract-based restriction.

So, how does that work? Are reservation points worthless on the resale market? Or could they be used if you hold a pre-2011 contract? Or is there some magic that allows resale purchasers to use reservation points which exist as part of a contract even when purchased on the resale market?

Pretty sure those points are worthless because they do not transfer via estoppel.

They won’t transfer for use, but if you are interested, I would ask the seller to contact DVC and see if they would consider changing them back since they are selling the contract,

It may not be possible, but it doesn’t hurt to ask.

You could always ask Disney to make an exception, but based on my prior experiences there willingness to make exceptions for resale purchases is very minimal.

I would be a bit skeptical of the broker if they actually advertised those points. They may not understand the product very well.

The seller probably thinks it has some value so that'll have to be broken to the seller along with dealing with the fact that they probably want to be paid the dues on the points. Gonna be a rough call with the seller when they get an offer...

I think they have to list exactly what is there. I am in the process of selling and they verify through Disney. So, even though they don’t transfer for use, they are part of the contract.

When did that start? Years ago they used to transfer although there weren't resale restrictions then either.

Hmm, I wonder if the seller can book those for you and then close the contract after you've used the points. Otherwise, I'd just ask them to credit you for the MFs associated with the points.

I was just thinking,..maybe they would transfer, The restriction is that resale points can’t be used for DVC collection. So they can’t be changed to reservation points,

But since these are already reservation points, they already have been converted. So, I think they could still be used by a new owner as they are already in that status.

Of course, they expire at end of UY they are in so there might not be much time,
