Buying resale at HHI or BWV

I have just started looking at buying DVC, and have looked at listings at TSS. Though I have not stayed at any DVC property, my preference, based on nothing but location and photos, is BCV and BWV on site. We have never been to Hilton Head, but I think it looks great for a summer trip. With kids in school we generally need to travel during busy WDW times, though I gather these are not the busiest times for DVC. One of our favorite times is Thanksgiving, and I have heard that is busy. The cost difference per point has me looking at HH resales, but how hard is it to get in to BCV/BWV at 7 months? I have also heard that HH is hard to get in summer, so would having that 11 month window be an advantage? How do the dues compare? I have also looked at the renta/trade board. Is it possible to rent HH points or ressies if we are unable to use them? It seems that most renters have other home resorts. Sorry for all the newbie questions and TIA for any help!

At certain times it can be hard to get BCV or BWV at 7 month. (Oct, early Dec) Holidays which include Thanksgiving can also fall into that category.

Also, based on what I read here it's VERY hard to get a standard view BWV at 7 months

It's possible to rent HH points, but I don't think folks renting at HH come to DVC as their first choice. Some folks (and I am one of them) are not overly impressed with HHI. Yes, it's nice but it's not inside one of the plantations and I don't want to have to drive to the beach.

The only reason I would buy HH is for lower costs, but... if you want to stay at BCV/BWV it might be good to bite the bullet. Lots of folks feel that as SSR and whatever else Disney builds fills up, the 7 month window will become even more "crowded" with folks trying to change. BCV is one of the smaller complexes.
