Buying Points for DL

We purchased points in September and stayed at BWV's. It worked out great. We're hoping to spend a little time at DL in very early December. I was wondering if I could buy points to stay somewhere out there? And where?

I am assuming that by "purchased" you mean you bought/rented points from an owner for a single stay.

If so, it will almost surely be less expensive to pay cash for a DL stay than to "purchase" points. The real value of DVC is using it to stay at a DVC resort - and there are no DVC resorts in California.

That said, DVC members can use their points to stay at the Grand Californian, the Disneyland Hotel and Disney's Paradise Pier. The least expensive room (for points) in early December will be a standard view at the Paradise Pier. A week night (Sunday - Thursaday) is 21 points. A Friday or Saturday night is 38 points.

I do not know what the cash rate is for the Paradise Pier, but I'd bet it is less than $210/night in early December. (The average price per point is about $10).
