Buying passes at Disney Store

My question is if when you buy park passes out of state do you pay the 6% Fla tax as well as the local state tax?

This will help me to decide whether to visit my mom (60 min drive) in NH to buy over $1000 worth of tickets - NO TAX in NH. "Live Free or Die" :bounce: .

'Tax' achussetts has a 5% tax.

Thanks for any info.

Nope, I've bought passes at the local Disney Store and they ring up exactly the same price as the chart on this website for passes with the DC discount.

It doesn't matter where you buy your passes to WDW. You always have to pay the FL tax (and only the FL tax).

And I think you should visit your Mom anyway! :D :D

Just last Friday I visited the DS in Solomon Pond Mall, and the Manager didn't know how to sell me an AP using the DC discount. She got on the phone, and after much consultation, told me to buy it at the parks!! And I really wanted to give them a $350 plus sale!. I guess I'll get it at the airport in Orlando, or have to wait until the parks.

Gee I was going to get my passes at the Solomon Pond Mall I guess I should get them at the park instead too if they don't know how to do the DC discount. Thanks for the heads up on that one saved me a trip.

I have been going through an ordeal that some of you may benefit from knowing about....I thought I would get my AP's ahead of time also! I checked with our local Disney store, and they were totally dumbfounded as to what to do. (That made me nervous, so I decided to go a different route!)

I called Disney ahead of time and found out exactly the amount I needed to send (just to let you know, they charge $3 to mail them to you -- like they aren't making enough money! ) I mailed a check for the total (I didn't want to use a credit card -- we want this trip to be all paid for before we go!) along with a letter describing exactly what I wanted.

Last Friday I received my AP's....or should I say, SOMEONE'S AP's!!! I was given Flor. Resident Renewal Passes!!! (No good for me!!!) I called immediately and was told that I sent the wrong amount of money for what I wanted...that I owed another $60!!! WHAT????!!!

Well, I checked everything out (I was right!!!) and called back. After being on the phone for some 15 minutes (at MY expense, of course!!) the CM told me the best way to resolve this issue was at the Parks!!! -- The only way to "fix" this is for me to send back the wrong ones; when they receive the incorrect ones, then they send me a check as a refund...in the meantime I would have to send ANOTHER check and order new AP's...The problem is, the CM told me that they are soooo backlogged I would probably not receive my refund check before my trip in 3 weeks!!! UGH!!!! Sooooo....I now have to do what I was trying to avoid...spend time hammering out our passes when we get to Disney!!! (*sigh*)

The CM's advice to me for future trips, is to purchase my passes there at the park (or even at your resort!) Especially with the unrest with the mail system, etc....he said it is much quicker (and safer) to get them upon arrival!

I hope my story will save someone else this aggravation!!!

kecall - So sorry to hear about the hassle you are going through. Hope you can resolve it quickly when you get to the parks.

Just an FYI for others: Although you can buy most types of passes at the WDW resorts, you cannot buy AP/PAP at the resorts. For those, you must go to one of the parks or one of the guest relations desks at Downtown Disney.

An option for those who like to pay for passes in advance: Instead of ordering the AP/PAP from the Disney Store, or ordering via phone or online, you can order Disney Dollars and then use those to pay for the pass. Some Disney Stores have limits on the amount of DD you can buy, but most will order specific amounts for you. By doing this, it will be like paying for the passes in advance. Yes, you still have to go to a guest relations window to buy the pass, but you would have to go there anyway to exchange the voucher. Either way, the transaction will take about the same amount of time.

Hi all! Just a note to say that you can purchace AP's and PAP's at your local TDS. TDS's don't carry them in stock, so they have to be ordered, but you can get them through TDS. Give TDS your name and telephone number, along with the type of passes you need (yes, you can order a DC-discounted AP/PAP), and in approximately 2 weeks, you will get a phone call from TDS saying your passes are in. As a former CM, I can tell you without question this can be done. Hope this helps?

Debi -- You are right...it CAN be done. I knew that when I went to my local store. The problem is, people in our area rarely ever get AP's from the store, so the CM's were at a loss about what to do. The CM told me, "You're better off ordering them directly from Disney. That way you know they'll be right!" I guess what I needed was a "Debi" at my store. :D

I bought mine from the disney store was really easy, all I had to do was order them and they called me on the phone when the tickets were in.. only took a few days... we order 3 adult tickets using disney club card.. total was $1,062 and when he rang them up with disney discount they came to $ 955.91I didnt pay any tax....

LOL kecall! You're right, some TDS's don't get a lot of AP orders, and my former store was one of them. The first time a guest asked about ordering an AP, I told her that they had to be done directly through WDW, and that we couldn't order them - I didn't even know about it. If this ever happens again, make sure to speak with another manager/CM, as it can be done! :)

I understand wanting to have things paid for before a trip, but I'd be really hesitant to carry enough Disney Dollars with me on a trip to pay for one or more AP's. If you lose the Disney Dollars, it's just like losing cash. In fact - I'm not even buying park hoppers for my family until we get to WDW because I don't want to take the chance of having them lost or stolen enroute. Much better IMHO to charge the tickets to a credit card and pay the bill with the money you have saved for that purpose.
