Buying park tickets as a frequent Virgin

Being a frequent Virgin, will I be able to buy discounted tickets whilst in Orlando ?

Just wondered if I can get 10% off my Disney Tickets.

Kevin - we always go to the welcome briefing on our first morning. You can get discounts (about 10% I think) on Universal tickets and Sea World etc. However, we always buy our Disney tickets in advance - got the 10 day world hopper via the Virgintravelstore site from Keith Prowse so I don't know about discounts on Disney tickets. Depending on how long you are going for, it might be worth thinking about the 10 day world hopper. Its really good value.

Sorry, there are no discounts for Frequent Virgins on Disney Tickets. You are better off buying them before you go (especially if you want the 10 day Hopper).

We were disappointed at how little was discounted....only very minor attractions like Gatorland, Water Mania and those dire dinner shows! I dont THINK Universal and Sea World were discounted, but give them a call to be sure.

Have you booked this trip with Virgin Holidays?

If so, you CAN get 10% off tickets as well if you add them to your package.

I booked our flydrive with them, and 10 Day Passes and Discovery Cove and got 10% Frequent Virgin Discount off the whole lot.

It saved quite a bit as the 10 Day Pass was on special offer anyway, I think it worked out only £165 for the Adult Pass after the discount, so a great deal! :D
 

Thats a valid point, but the OP asked specifically about purchasing them in Orlando....where there are very few discounted tickets available!
 
Now that's interesting. So If I add Disney and Universal Tickets to my original booking with Virgin, I'll get 10% off the tickets or will they recost my whole holiday then take 10% off ? Reason I ask is I have had my 10% Frequent Virgin discount already.

Virgin will probably put me on some sort of blacklist as I've changed my holidayplans about 5 times already !!!!!
 
Kevin, it should be no problem at all if their system works as it did for me last year.

I added the 10 Day Tickets to our booking a few months after we made the original booking, and they gave me the 10% and the new balance due, it was very easy to add them on, and no charges for changing the booking at all.

Hope this info helps you save a few pennies, all the more to spend in WDW!

If you want the 10 Day ticket I'm not sure when the special offer price ends or what period the ticket covers, but we go in September and it was OK for that timescale.

I did as Mazzy said when I booked direct with Virgin Holidays in 2001.I added Discovery cove and Universal tickets and got 10% off them too:p
 
Mazzy - how did you get the 10 day passes for £165 ? Friends have booked and with the 10% off are paying £206.
 
It depends when you are travelling. The 10 day pass is valid up till Oct 31st...if you are going after that then you will be charged £249 (less 10% =£226). There was a glitch on their system recently that was still charging the offer tickets at full price. If you are travelling before Oct 31st 2003 then you will be entitled to the cheaper price which is £189 (less 10%).

Kevin, I'm surprised you were quoted the full price, as I only booked last week. Maybe it might be worth giving them another ring to check that out as I did see the same offer on the 10 Day Ticket was on Virgin TRAVELSTORE website and doesn't end until the end of this month.

Disney BB - yes that's booking with Virgin Holidays Direct. The offer price was £189 so with the 10% it was £165. You have to be a member of the Frequent Virgin Club to get the 10% off.
 
My friend has just phone them up and she was told that it was only available with a package. This was only available through the news of the world in certain parts of the country! Well Mazzy you did well getting them for that price.

DisneyBB.....this is NOT TRUE. Anyone can obtain the 10 day World Pass for £189 from lots of different outlets (Virgin Travelstore for example). You do not need to be travelling with Virgin to obtain them either.

What may have confused you is that a further 10% off would be available to you if you were buying a Virgin package holiday, you added your tickets to the package and you were entitled to the Frequent Virgin discount of 10%. That is the only way you can get anymore discount off of these tickets.

If I remember rightly, the News Of the World Offer was the 7 day Hopper for the price of the 5 day one. This offer crops up now and then, quite often at the Disney Store after the 10 day Offer ticket promotion ends.
 
I rang Virgin and asked for the 10 day passes and was quoted £226 for the passes, which is not including any discount. I was told they do not have the 10 day pass for £189.

Allie, I'm not doubting you, it's just that my theory is Virgin charge you as much as they can, unless you dispute the figure with them. I think the salesperson is on commision so therefore starts with the highest quoted figure. For example I wanted to change hotel and they tried to take my free child space away and charge me £50 per person extra on top of my original price I paid for Premium.

I think there is a bit of confusion here. Virgin Travel store is nothing to do with Virgin Holidays. V.T.S can are offering th 189 price, but my friend has already booked her fly drive and passes with V.H direct. This was before the 189 special came out. Now if she cancels the tickets she will be charged £25 per person to cancel. She is paying £206 for a 10 day, with the 10% discount. So there would be no real bennefit to her canceling. She queried £189 price, that MAzzy got, with V.H. and their answer was the News of the World offer that I stated in my last post.

I get the feeling everytime I phone V.H. direct they don't really care! I have booked with them this year and I am thinking maybe not next time. They canceled our flight this year going out and we never recieved the notification. Making us go from Heathrow changing at miami and return to Gatwick. In end with a lot of hassel they moved us forward two days. The friends that are having hassel about the park tickets booked direct with them for October 04. They received the invoice only to find out that they are had charged the entire price of the flights onto their credit card! When she complained one girls response was "Well at least it is out of the way" !! They were very unhelpful and only after repeated calls was it sorted out.

I think that they should be very careful to look after their customers and they should offer the same price for park tickets as other agents.
 
Thats terrible, DisneyBB. I would have thought Virgin would have tried to make sure their customers got the best deal possible.

I gave up with Virgin a few years ago, as even with Frequent Virgin offers, I dont find them a particularly customer friendly operation. We were also charged "admin" fees when we tried to change things and they made a complete shambles of our wedding trip (losing the wedding dress was one of the best Virgin blunders to happen to me).

I think your friend should write a strong letter of complaint...after all Virgin Travel store is linked from the main Virgin site and additionally, these offer tickets are available to every tour operator (inc Virgin Holidays)....I really think she should get these at the discount price. I would be kicking up one hell of a stink if it was me!
