Buying on Disney cruise

Just got home from cruising on Disney Dream. Went to member gathering and can provide some info on buying on cruise. I apologize for not having complete info as I did not sit down with a guide.

Right now they are promoting only AKV and Hawaii. SSR is sold out, but talking with one of the guides helpers, they do have some points left for existing members only, if they inquire.

I was on the elevator one day and a man saw my DVC hat and told me he had just purchased AKV's. He was very excited to be a new member and was pleased that he purchased for $135 per point. I did not inquire about how many points he got or anything else, but I thought that was kind of high for any amount of points.

No mention of Grand Floridian by any DVC personnel.

We bought AKV direct on the Disney Dream last July, and I can't believe how much the price has gone up in just one year, is that normal for prices to be increased at such a fast rate?

We paid $102/point on that cruise, I don't believe we would be paying what they are asking now.

If Disney raises the price and people who don't know any better, why wouldn't they continue?

Look at resales... I was going to buy 160 BLT on a cruise last year for $20K and instead got 250 points resale for $12K.... and used the $8K saved to go to alaska and hawaii this year.

Good deal, what resort did you buy?

We decided on SSR due to the lower annual fees and are happy we did. Since our purchase we have stayed at Aulani, BWV, BCV, Wilderness and AKV.
