What happens if you go over the legal limit on buying Sudafed? Will they know at the counter if you purchased elsewhere, or will the men in black show up at your door?

I guess you need to buy Sudafed on weeks even when you aren't sick so that you have stockpile.
Don't blame the person behind the counter.... they did not make the laws.
I certainly was not blaming the person behind the counter. I was merely expressing frustration with the current state of things. It's a frivolous law that protects no one. It just makes taking care of allergies even more of a pain in the rear.

How about going to all the stores in your town in the next 48 hours to check out if this system works?

Heck, I bought a bottle of OTC children's Tylenol Cold containing NO SUDAFED and was carded for my purchase!!! When the cashier asked to see my license I looked at her funny (not out of anger, more of a "what?") and she said, "yeah, we have to card for all cold medicine now." I mean COME ON!!!!!!!
Speaking of Children's Tylenol Cold - did they pull this completely off the market? I used to use that (in a pink cherry tablet/pill form) for my kids, it worked wonders & covered all the bases plus cough. Can't find it on the shelf or behind the pharmacy.
