Buying GF basics at Publix

Where is the nearest place to buy GF products off site? Does Publix stock a range? I am looking for basic things like some rolls, snack bars/cookies/crackers to keep in the room. I usually take some with me, but wondered if I can buy over there. I don't drive so rely on a taxi. I have never ventured out to a supermarket while at Disney, but usually make a trip to the Premium Mall and on the map there is a Publix nearby, so I wondered if it would be possible to combine it in one trip (not necessarily one taxi but so that we don't have to take 2 cabs from DTD). What is the best way to get there and do they stock a GF range? Any help would be appreciated. TIA

Hi Tia,

There is a new Whole Foods not too far North of DTD that has the usual stock of GF foods. Also, you may want to ship your snacks etc ahead and have them waiting for you when you get there. Thas whatwe do. Saves time and taxi fare .

The Publix near my daughter has some GF (on Universal Blvd) but there is no way I would depend on getting what you really want or need. Bring it with you. My husband (who is gluten free) just got back a week or so ago and he took what he needed with him. It really doesn't take up that much extra room in the luggage if creatively packed.

Thanks. You both made good points. I guess if I really think of it, I would never be comfortable not taking some basics with me - too many "what if's"...! After the last trip when I had it all in the hold luggage and the airline didn't load her GF meal on a 9 hour flight the poor little girl had fruit and yogurt and lots of juice. (Yeah, we both cried eventually). I will put the basics in my luggage (hand and hold this time!) and I can just pick up any extras I need at that little wholefoods place. It isnt really worth shipping stuff if there is a delivery charge as I don't need THAT much - it is just for in betweens and maybe a snack in the room.
