Buying DVC was the worst mistake

Don't get me wrong. I love WDW and I think DVC is a great purchase for anyone planning frequent trips.

But that's the problem. I used to plan a Disney vacation a few months in advance. After a few months of anticipation I would enjoy my vacation, then come home to "reality".

Now all my time is spent planning and anticipating the next vacation. I joined in May and I already have my next 3 vacations lined up. I find myself looking at my own posts just so I can see the vacation countdown in my signature.

At one point there was a 13 year gap between trips for me, but now I'm finding a 1 year wait to be excruciating.

I don't know why I'm looking for sympathy here. You're all probably just as crazy as me.

:grouphug: You are so right! Joining DVC and loving it, makes us all sort of crazy!

I know what you mean. I couldn't wait for my 11 month window to open up in August so I could book for next summer and just the other day said to my daugther--its less than 9 months away.

I even booked our airfare already as Jetblue came out with their summer rates. We never get good deals from Syracuse and this is about $244.00 per person round trip direct so for us, pretty decent. And, if they do go lower, I will just get credit for the next time.

Now, I am waiting for the 7 month window as DH wants to try BCV for the first two nights. Here is hoping I have luck--will be calling on Dec 30th for that.

Its an obsession, no doubt about it!!!

We originally bought into DVC because I work days and Chuck works nights. We decided we needed a once a year mandatory vacation {at WDW of course} to actually spend time together.

I have turned into a Disney planning freak. Chuck is second to my freakness. We go at least once a year but some years twice. But I am always looking at the points, balancing the points for the next 3 trips. Tryin to get 3 trips out of one Annual Pass.

It has become my addiction but I don't want any help to overcome it!

I totally agree with you!

At least you're not alone:flower3: And you couldn't ask for a better support group:earsboy:

Who says you're crazy? Maybe THEY ARE the crazy ones and we're the sane group:laughing: I even have a spreadsheet listing when I'm going, who I'm taking and how many points it will cost me:dance3:... My friends and family think I'm nuts but you all understand me:lmao:

To make your life a lot easier, download the countdown timer from the DVC site so that it shows up on your desktop every morning. That way you don't have to go through the trouble of going into the bulletin board to see how long you have to wait for the next vacation and be excruciated. This way its instant excruciation every time you turn the computer on!!:lmao:

Agree with everything. I made my own spreadsheet for the planning. DH is getting as bad as me. I'm on the Disney website everynight, looking to see if there are different things posted. I'm obsessed with Disney and DVC:lmao:. Thank goodness for the DIS boards:thumbsup2

Misery loves company! Birds of a feather flock together! The more the merrier! Who cares if others don't get it! ;)

Know what you mean! We have 5 trips planned as of now including our first trip to DL California. And I can't seem to get off the DIS, always here lurking around.

How can you stand a year between trips? We've managed to manipulate our points so we can make the trek every 6 months. Even then we find the wait almost intolerable. Our fantasy -- enough points for 365 days. Really. I'm not crazy!!!!! Am I?

If you're crazy for wanting 365 days at Disney then I'm right there with you:lmao: Someday I will own enough points to go twice a year. Right now I am doing one trip a year:scared1: (I know - it's REALLY hard) and dreaming the rest of the time. I live vicariously through other's trip reports :rolleyes:and lurk here on the boards too...:littleangel:

I like to go every few months too. :goodvibes I have a trip planned for between Christmas and NYE (that DH has screwed up), one for Spring Break, and am planning our annual trip for August. :)

My soon-to-be DW loves to travel but only gets 2 weeks vacation each year. So the plan is to take one week in Florida and one week "somewhere else". Don't get me wrong, she loves Disney. She just likes to mix it up a little.

Since I'm the one that suggested DVC, Florida trips are my responsibility and the other trips are hers. When she asked for a suggestion for our honeymoon next year, I knew I couldn't suggest WDW. So I gambled and suggested Disneyland. She happily agreed.

It does get better - but it takes some time for the newness to wear off! I actually missed the first day of my 7-month window this year - for the first time ever. Just forgot it was coming so soon.

Luckily - we were still able to get our first choices!

:goodvibesAs I usually go every 2 months, stretching those studios accommodations (lower pts). Point stratagies, which resort, and who should I bring along.. Wow what a mistake I made and enjoying every moment!:thumbsup2

What, you mean everyone doesn't have a vacation spreadsheet projecting their trips for the next 3 years? Lazybones!

:rotfl::rotfl:

We do Disney Autumn through Spring (3 trips mixed in there). Summertime we go somewhere else. Way too crowded and hot in Disney over the summer.

Every 2 months!!! I did take note that you are in Florida, so you don't have to contend with air fares! You are lucky!
