Buying Direct But How Long a Member?

I'm not buying the theory that Disney will "tear down" BCV and BWV after 2042. I've seen that mentioned quite a few times. The Polynesian and the Contemporary are pushing 50 years old now and I've seen no mention of tearing those down.

Europeans can keep a building for hundreds of years and continue to use it. In America we want to tear down everything after 25 years.

There is one really stellar location remaining on WDW property. I keep mumbling about it. Gonna happen as soon as they figure how to not screw up BLT views with it.

Where is it? As parking lots become obsolete or smaller with alternative transportation then more real estate will be available.

Old Contemporary Convention Center. It is increasingly obsolete and needs upgrades that aren't happening. They did massive updates at Boardwalk and Coronado.

Either they are going to update Contemporary, or they are planning to use that site for something else. Given the site, lodging would not be out of the question.

I like Animal Kingdom from what I've read about it. 100 points there probably makes the most sense although as my family grows I like Old Key West (2057) and its cheaper. Bay Lake Tower is our favorite but the direct price is so steep now!

They would never tear it down. What they likely will do is have a large refurbishment and resell the timeshares there with new expiration dates.

I was wondering if we could see them tearing down the Garden Rooms at the Contemporary and building another Bay Lake Tower type building. It would sit on a very similar size plot of land as BLT does

I think this could also happen if they were not using GW for room guarantees for the convention center.

The convention business runs on center access, and room blocks. CGW is the common block for stuff at Contemporary.

(This is also why room conversion at BWI, YC and BC is so unlikely. Have to be able to offer large room blocks to fill the center over there. Cannot do that cutting any of those 3 in half for timeshare.)

Where is the Old Contemporary Convention Center? I know there are meeting rooms in the main hotel building. Also, I know there is a building that I wasn't sure the usage is right next to the Garden Wing closer to the street.

I recall reading somewhere (though I don't remember where so I can't properly credit the person) that if they build a new DVC building at the Contemporary it will most likely be at the Convention Center site rather than the Garden Wing. A new building at the Convention Center area would have unobstructed theme park views but one on the Garden Wing site would have the Contemporary blocking the view to MK.

You need to think like DVD:

WHY NOT BOTH?

Decent map view here: https://cdn0.touringplans.com/static/hotels/orl008/overview/contempmap.jpg

Existing connects to main Tower, so a building there would have a monorail connection. Wouldn't be hard to connect the site to the walkway. Might not be the largest property built, but neither was VGF and it did okay.

There's one other - the front of Epcot. In fact there were some designs that were seen for what would have been a small DVC but the location would have been great for both Epcot and access to the monorail back to MK.

Yes. The best remaining open tract. If they would add monorail access- homerun!
