This is why we have lots of small point contracts. Easier to downsize without having to offload everything.I think those large point contracts can be kind of a trap. They look like good buys because they have to be so heavily discounted to sell. But the buyer might have to discount them even further down the line and sell at a loss if they ever decide to sell, because they’re so difficult to unload. And you can’t ever retain points if you have just one enormous contract, but want to cut back your DVC holdings and not get rid of them entirely.
Now that's a thread we could do.. instead of the ROFR thread where the best prices are celebrated, we could have a thread where we have the worst contracts we purchased in hindsight and maybe ones that we regret/wish we would have done differently although it may be hard for people to want to share that information. Now paging worst DVC contract thread![]()
Curious, I offered $112pp and the broker auto-rejected it due to "Low but Firm" listing. Oh well.I was offered the December one for $113pp and I passed. September is not my UY. Still feel they are slightly overpriced for that size of contract.
From my research, the contract I have in ROFR right now at $117 was likely listed just 2 years ago at $135, so this post rings true. And the then-buyers-now-sellers were only a few months into DVC ownership, from what I could find of their FL contracts.I think those large point contracts can be kind of a trap. Think might already be goneThe 710 point monster? I saw that. That might sit awhile lol.
Indeed. Looks like the listing is now "Offer accepted".Think might already be gone
Didn't even make it a day. I wish I had 80 grand burning a hole in my pocket LOLJust came here to gloat about my $115pp non-stripped AUL-S currently in ROFR.
Seriously though I can’t believe a 700 pointer sold so quick.
It’s nice to know the market still has some good liquidity to it.Indeed. Looks like the listing is now "Offer accepted".
Also had to gloat to my husband how this huge contract sold same day with a firm price of $115pp.It’s nice to know the market still has some good liquidity to it.
The subsidized market sure does. It’s nice to know the market still has some good liquidity to it.
I'm shook. I wish I had 80K to just whip out on a whim.Think might already be gone

Sometimes it feels like Monopoly money, lol. Here I am trying to figure out if I want 450 more Aulani points so I can stay there for a month when we retire next year. Do I go YOLO or be responsible?#TeamGVCABINBUNGALOWPENTHOUSE
Part of me: Team YOLO!Sometimes it feels like Monopoly money, lol. Here I am trying to figure out if I want 450 more Aulani points so I can stay there for a month when we retire next year. Do I go YOLO or be responsible?
That is not my strong suit lol. I will run it past our financial advisor when we meet with him to start executing our retirement plans. Being responsible is not fun.Part of me: Team YOLO!
Other part of me: Run the numbers in your financial planning software and see if your plan is still successful.
Assume you use the additional points for 10 years and include the corresponding dues/flights/food costs/etc.
But…. Being able to spend money on things that are discretionary with less stress because your plan is successful is fun! That is not my strong suit lol. I will run it past our financial advisor when we meet with him to start executing our retirement plans. Being responsible is not fun.
100%!But…. Being able to spend money on things that are discretionary with less stress because your plan is successful is fun!
Was curious behind the logic for an individual to purchase this, and I assumed it must be someone buying it with the intention to rent it out.I bet a commercial renter grabbed that big AUL-S.
