Buying a MagicBand

I'm thinking about buying my daughter one of the Marie MagicBands from ShopDisney.com. How does that work, since we get MagicBands as part of our resort package? Do they reprogram them at the resort or something?

You get magicbands with your resort stay. Instead of buying another one, try buying decorations for the one you're receiving. If you just want an extra band, you can link it to your MDE account and assign it to your daughter.

We're a party of 14, so I'm looking for ways to visually separate the bands. I found MagicYourBand.com, which seems cool, but she would freak out for a Marie band.

We just got back from a Christmas trip. We are a family of three kids and two adults. My son had a problem keeping his band on. Not sure if he was fidgeting with it, or if he just caught the edge of the band in something and it would flip off.

Anyway, I saw a clip around some folks' bands. I tried finding them in the stores, but couldn't find them. I was told to go to Guest Services and they had them. These clips were handed out to Annual Passholders. We're APs at Disneyland, but not at WDW. The CM had pity on me and gave me one when I showed her my DLR AP via the iOS app.

I miss the Magicband sliders they used to sell. They were similar to the AP slider they hand out. The bandits they sell now pop out too easily.

The band just links to your account, so you can have multiple bands assigned to your one account (person). I think I have 6 or 7 bands now and I just grab the one I want to wear that day (I'm a nerd and color coordinate or match them the park I'm going to). It's super easy to add a new band to your account from home and if you have any issues, you can stop by guest services or the hotel desk.

She can bring the free one and the Marie one and interchange them if she'd like.

Shop Disney ships super fast. Got the tea cup Alice one for my daughter for our trip this weekend. Paid for upgraded shipping and it wasn't necessary.

We are a family of four; and three of us purchased Magic Bands while we were there last week! Two of them synced just fine on the app; and one of them did not and we had to go to the concierge at our hotel (Contemporary) and she fixed it quickly. Check the shop at your hotel; the BVG shop had the limited edition Haunted Mansion band that wasn't anywhere we found at MK or the World of Disney store at DS.

I have the Marie MB! I actually have about 12 MBs - Marie is my favorite!

When she gets the MB she will enter the MB number (found on the underside of the puck) into her MDE account (or yours, if you manage her account) in the “Magic Bands” section where it says to “Link a Magic Band.” It’s super easy. As others have said, you can have more than one MB - I color coordinate mine to my outfits. The only issue I have had is that when you have more than just a few it sometimes causes the system to glitch. In my case I often end up having a problem using my MB to open the resort door. I’ve never had a problem getting into the park, tapping for FP or purchasing anything using my MB. If I can’t open the resort door a quick visit to the conceirge at the resort does the trick. It’s never actually been a problem as my husband’s MB has always gotten us into the room.

All you need to do is enter the numbers from the back of the MB into your daughters profile on your MDE account. If you are nervous about it, they can do it at the resort for you, but it's really simple. You can have multiple MB linked to each persons profile, they can be used interchangeably without an issue.

We have never used the bands they mail us. Everyone makes their own statement with their bands. My daughter has this g*d awful bright green Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter band for next trip and she got me Grumpy for my birthday. I have 4 on my account now.
