Buy Now or Later?

Ok, with this scary ecomony and unknown ahead, is it a good time to buy DVC now or later? I have part of the money to buy but will have to finance the rest through Disney. We can afford our monthly payments and maintenence fees but is it a good time? I am so confused...any advice??

we just bought into AKK 3 weeks ago and thought the same way you are right now. We pondered a couple months, called our 2 guides several times and finally came to the decision to go for it. We want to have something great like this for a very long time and then give it to our 2 boys down the road. You only can control and make your decisions, you can't control the economy. You and your family have to feel comfortable with your decision and go into this with no doubts at all.
We financed thru disney for 10 years, but will get it paid off in 5.

I think if it were me, I'd want to pay cash---regardless of the current state of the economy. I'm not a big fan of borrowing for discretionary/luxury purchases.

It might be a good time to wait and see if the incentives get better. If you are scared about the economy, lots of others will be too. The incentives to buy might get better in a few months. You always take your chances. if you wait.

I'm hoping for something better in November.

The real question is "can you afford to keep paying cash for accomodations until you buy DVC?" That money is better put towards DVC now, unless you don't intend to travel for a while.

Exactly. You have nothing to lose by waiting a bit to see what the next offering is. The current financial crisis has a lot of people hesitating about large purchases and that's got to translate into better incentives soon.

The only way buying now makes sense is if delaying has you dumping a large amount of money into hotel rooms in the meantime.

OK Decided to buy now with current incentives that our guide has extended to us. We travel to Disney no less than 3 times per year as we used to live in Orlando and went a LOT (30+ times per year with annual passes)

Now we are in North GA and we still have a lot of family in FL so we know for sure that we will travel at least 4 times per year back and now we can stay at DVC in nicer accomodations. (when we stayed we ususally stayed at the value resorts).

can i ask...what were the incentives...I am considering purchasing today as well

i received the $500 member referral
standard $8 off per point and the matching points at SSr...where you able to get addt'l incentives beyond that?

I believe they were the same....160 developer points, $96 per point, $500 visa card.
