I am about to buy into the SSR DVC b/c it's longer time period and a great deal. My family and I love the BCV though and hope to stay there when we visit. Is it probable we will still be able to stay there when we book 7 months in advance? Also, if we opt to buy future points at BCV, do we get an 11 month there as well as SSR? How does having 2 diff. points work?

if you add on at BC you will get the 11 month window which you may need at popular times

If you add on points at BCV you will have the 11-month booking advantage at BCV with your BCV points only. So let's say you buy 150 SSR points and then add on 50 BCV points. You would be able to use your 50 BCV points to book at BCV at 11 months and then add on additional nights at BCV at the 7-month mark with your SSR points.

Edited to add: Your ability to book at BCV at 7 months will vary based on the time of year. During the first two weeks of December and during the Food & Wine Festival (late Sept - mid Oct) for example, it will be very difficult. But from mid January to mid February, probably not a problem.

There are many threads on the topics "how difficult is it to get into BCV, BWV or VWL at 7 months" and also the topic "buy where you want to stay" so keep digging through these boards (or use the search function) because there are a lot of points of view on this particular topic.

Probable? Well....maybe. If you call right at seven months and can be flexible with your dates and room type, probably. But guarenteed. No. At popular times (popular times for BCV are pretty much October 1st - Christmas now with Food and Wine running right into the early December period)? Could be tough even at seven months. As more rooms are added and more members are competing for the small number of rooms at the smaller resorts (not just SSR members, but BWV owners, OKW owners, etc), it will be harder to book the smaller resorts. A lot of people are pushing up the prices of BCV resales right now - and they wouldn't pay $85 for BCV if they thought they were going to not be using that as their primary resort.

The real question is "if you make your first reservation at SSR and then can't switch at seven months, will you be content? And if not, how much is your love of BCV worth to you?"

If you really would want to stay at BCV more often then not then I would buy into BCV.

SSR is a great resort and right now the price is super too, but if you really want to be assured a BCV stay, then buy there.

I called this week for BCV in May for a studio and get 3 of my nights and I went on the waitlist for the other 3 nights and they came through today.I just spoke with MS.
So You can get into BCV,but during the popular times you may have a hard time.
But if you dont travel during the busiest DVC times you should be OK to get BCV..

My waitlist has always come through at BCV.But that dont mean it always will.

SSR is Beautiful.I like the decor in the rooms there better than any other. We Love staying at SSR too.

But I am happy anywhere as long as I am at Disney.

BTW,you can get into BWV alot easier than BCV so if you cant get your ressie at BC then try BW.
We have stayed at BW our last 2 times and We like it also.

Buy where you want to stay. I wouldn't even consider buying SSR personally b/c I prefer to stay elsewhere (although I have stayed at SSR and I think it's a nice resort). That 11 month window can be very handy in the summer months and during Food and Wine Festival.

I agree that if you think you want to stay a BC often buy there. I believe it is the 2nd smallest resort and you can't beat the location.
