Day 5 – Part 2
Sorry for the delay on my next installment. Now where was I?
Oh yes, the lizard. When we arrived at our room, I realized that I worried for nothing while we left the girls in the room on their own. We found them lying on the beds watching Pirates of the Caribbean even though they had seen it a million times already. But who doesn’t love to watch Johnny over and over? Er…..I mean POTC.
Prince Grumpy: Guess what I have in my bag?
Goofy: Chocolate?
Me: Nooooooo (shaking my head – if there ever was a chocolate monster, this is my child. She doesn’t digest it well though…I’ll just say that it keeps her running – enough said)
JoJo: A new pin for our collection?
Prince Grumpy: No, I’ll give you a hint. It has 4 legs and a tail.
JoJo: A LIZARD?????
(Prince Grumpy nods his head)
Goofy: Let’s see it!!!
Me: WAIT – WAIT A MINUTE. Let’s remove it from the bag outside, I don’t want that thing crawling around in the room – you might lose and then it will be stuck in here somewhere.
Goofy: No Mom, come on, we won’t.
Prince Grumpy: It’ll be fine.
Me: What if you can’t catch it again? I’ll never be able to go to sleep knowing it’s wandering around in here.
JoJo: Mom, it won’t hurt you.
Me: I know but…..OKAY…You can go in the bathroom with it.
(Prince Grumpy rolls his eyes at the girls, snickers and proceeds to the bathroom with his DD’s following quickly behind him)
Goofy: It’s so SMALL and cute! Can we keep it? Can we bring it home with us?
Me: Absolutely NOT. It won’t survive our climate.
JoJo: I can keep it in my aquarium. Pleeeassseeeeeee mom?
Me: No, we’re not allowed to bring it through customs.
Prince Grumpy: How would they know?
(Hey…isn’t he supposed to be on my side?)
Prince Grumpy: I don’t remember reading anything about not bringing back lizards.
Me: Hmph!
(Sometimes I believe DH thinks he has a photographic memory but I know he just doesn’t have the film)
Me: The answer is NO.
For some reason, this episode reminded me of Jim Morrison – I am the lizard king. I can do anything.
Anyhow, the girls played with their new friend while we transferred pictures and got ready to go for lunch. I called out to them and asked what they were doing. “Nothing” is what they said. Now we all know when kids say they are doing nothing – they are doing mischief.
After they set the lizard free, we went to the food court and shared two CS meals. None of us were that hungry and there was plenty go around. We saved our dessert coupons for later.
After lunch, we thought it would be fun to go to the arcade with the girls. I left the rest of my money back in the room and borrowed $20.00 from JoJo. That sure is the best way to teach kids the value of money. JoJo said “I don’t like lending my money to other people in case I never see it again. I said to her “Then it probably would be worth it”. At first we wandered around the arcade, watching them and then decided to play a game of air hockey, which by the way, I lost – big time.
I didn’t feel like playing the arcade games but enjoyed watching DH and the girls, taking a few pictures here and there. Watching DH play the games reminded me of when we first met and hung out at our local arcade. I was crazy over him and remember giving him a quarter because he had run out of money. I didn’t want his game to end so that I could spend more time getting to know him. Where there’s a will…(I want to be in it)….there’s a way and the rest is history.
I talked DH into having our picture taken in the photobooth:
Not the same day but I added this here:
I asked my DD’s if they were interested in taking a walking tour of our resort. We wanted to get a few pictures and had time to kill before our Hoop-Dee-Doo dinner. The girls allowed us to take a few pictures of them and became bored with us pretty fast. They decided to go back to the arcade and left us to wander around on our own.
While DH was taking a few pictures, I wandered off the path and found myself walking through an area with long grass. All of a sudden I became creeped out because I recalled an incident involving DH, while visiting my brother in Sarasota. He and his wife told us to stay on the sidewalks because of the fire ants. Prince Grumpy stepped off the sidewalk because, he either didn’t believe my brother or just because boys will be boys. In no more than 20 seconds the ants covered his calves and he freaked.

I never laughed so hard. I’m laughing at him now just remembering.
After our tour, I headed into the store to browse around. I bought a Disney photo album on sale for $7.99. It was half price. DH is always pleased when I manage to save us money. I wish I could win the lottery so I could prove to him that it wouldn’t SPOIL me.
We found the girls and went for chocolate shakes using two of our coupons before heading back to our room to get ready for our trip over to Fort Wilderness.
