YIKES! just listened to the Rolling Stones - AWFUL!!!! I could sing better than that - and that's not saying much! And now, b/c of Janet Jackson, it appears that the powers to be are making a new rule for the Super Bowl halftime- you must be over 60 and not an american. Next year it will be Elton John. Or if they relax the not an american rule, we could hear Billy Joel, Willie Nelson, Wayne Newton, Neil Diamond, Frank Sinatra, Jr., Aretha Franklin, - who else do you think?

I have seen the Stones and they do a good job. Really, I thought I was crazy when I heard Mick sing, "And I Twy." That was so bizarre. I don't know what I want to see in a halftime show. U2 was the best out of the past few years. Maybe they should go with marching bands or something.

Please not Aretha...after she mangled the National Anthem...the only thing worse would be Aaron Neville

*AHEM* Some of us LIKE Barry Manilow. Until you've seen one of his shows, don't judge. :)

EVERYONE sounds bad at the Superbowl. It's a tradition. Age is irrelevant.

Me too!! :rotfl2: I said to DH, is he really singing "twy?" OMG, that's so funny. I thought it was just me. Maybe his dentures were slipping??

Hey, don't get me wrong...I LOVE Barry Manilow!!!

Saw him a few years ago at Foxwoods Casino. The show was excellent until he stormed off the stage in some sort of huff after about 55 minutes....kind of disappointing considering what I paid for the tix.

Mick is a good frontman, the rest of the Stones didn't move that much and utilize that awesome stage. "Start me Up" was the same song they played at the beginning of the NFL season. Thought McCartney was better last year.

I'd rather see entertainment reflect the town where the super bowl is in. Detroit is the Motor City for crying out loud. Bring on Motown or Kiss. I'd even go for a Romantics reunion. :rockband:

Ugh! They were horrible!! I saw them in concert on their Steel Wheels tour about 1,000 years ago and the were pretty bad then as well. I figured after that tour they'd be hanging up the tight pants...alas, some bands just don't know when to call it quits...

Didn't Tony Bennett appear at the halftime show one year?

I know this is a pipe dream, but I'd like to see a big-band themed halftime show next year.....they should book the Glenn Miller Orchestra(yes, there is an official Miller band).....can you imagine 70,000 crazed football fans jitterbugging in the aisles to In the Mood? :Pinkbounc

Why should they quit? They're still selling out concerts and raking in the millions.

I hate all of these comments about their age. We have people around that age that post here and I wonder how they feel about these comments. :sad2:

I myself quite enjoyed them. I only hope I can move half that good when I'm that age. :teeth: They're definately in good physical shape.

How about Bon Jovi performing at the next Super Bowl???!!
