Why should they quit? They're still selling out concerts and raking in the millions.

I hate all of these comments about their age. We have people around that age that post here and I wonder how they feel about these comments. :sad2:

I don't mind the age - but it seems that it's all they are doing since the "incident". There are a ton of up to date people - and I like the local suggestions- I mean come on - they were Eminem's hometown - they couldn't let him sing? He's been on tv before - he knows how to calm it down. and what's up with using non-americans for the halftime of a very american sport?

My DH said that Mick Jagger was sounding more like Elmer Fudd when he was singing...... :rotfl:

You'd have to keep in mind the ages of Superbowl attendees. I'm wondering it they don't tend to be at least over thirty for the most part and if they'd really want to hear someone like Eminem.

You make a good point about the nationality of the performers though. I personally don't care where they come from but I can see that some people might.

I totally agree that with all the Motown artists & Eminem (altho he would not be my first choice), Kid Rock, Madonna, Bob Seager, why did they have to pick from out of the area? Oh well....I guess I wouldn't have really cared if I had enjoyed the half time performance but I thought it was horrible. Mick better start using Polident so that he doesn't sound like Elmer Fudd anymore! :rotfl2:

I liked that they weren't lip synching, but Mick was running around like a possessed man and he was sooooooo out of breath! Anybody at any age would have trouble singing with all the hopping about.

I can't figure out why they can't make it sound better, I've been to a ton of concerts with better sound! Maybe it's because the mikes are trying to pick up the music and not the 'noise'?

Mick Jagger has gorgeous, silky shiny hair for a 60 year old. How does he do that?!

The other guy, oh, gawd, what's his name, Keith Richards, looked like my grandma with an 80's Journey wig stuck on his head :smokin: Evidently heroin ages one a bit...

I actually enjoyed the Rolling Stones...I thought they were the best performance of the show, and much better than boring half time shows of the past...I mean, would you rather see, I mean hear Janet Jackson? Or maybe some one-hit wonders, or someone who can't sing at all like Ashley Simpson?

I didn't catch all of the performance (thankfully). What I did catch made me shudder. They sounded horrible and could have ended their last song a good 3 minutes sooner...it really wasn't "going anywhere" and didn't really have that "big ending". To be honest, the crowd (other than the paid people out front) really looked bored! Although Mick is thin...I'm not sure I'd call him "in shape". Every time he lifted his arms up, the flabby skin under his arms made me cringe!
...I could go on, but I'm really trying to forget the whole mental image of it!

Just about anytime I hear a "live" act on TV, it sounds awful. For some reason, live performances rarely carry well over broadcast. It's different when they have a DVD made of a live performance because I think they "tweak" it. I remember that DD and I were watching the Black Eyed Peas on TV one night--they were singing live. DD said "they sound horrible" yet when we went to the concert they sounded great. Same with Gwen Stefani. I remember that No Doubt did a small bit on one of the Superbowl shows many years ago and I thought "YUCK", but she sounded great on tour.

So, I do think that there it is pretty hard to judge the performance if you are watching it on TV.

But, I do think that Paul McCartney was pretty good last year and I'm not even a big fan of his.

Mick is actually 62, and I think a lot of us would be happy to be as fit as he is when we are that age.

Keith has looked like death for the last 30 years. He wears it well.

And for all of you complaining about the sound, it wasn't the Stones. It was the mixing, which WAS horrible. The mics weren't even on at the beginning, and you could not hear Ron Wood's guitar at all until "Start Me Up" was almost over. So, yeah, any band that is missing 3/4 of its instruments is going to sound bad . . .

And I still think the last 2 Halftime shows were tons better than the farce that it degenerated into when MTV was producing it.

Paul McCartney and the Stones . . . doesn't get any better. :woohoo:

I thought the Stones looked great, they look better than other rockers their age. But they played aweful. The timing was off, the arrangements made the songs worse, and Mick did not sound good at all.

I thought they were a good choice for the show, not man bands have been around that long, and they are Motown influenced, but boy I ca't imagine paying to them at this point.

The Producer of the show was the same one that brought Whitney Houston in to sing the Star Spangled Banner. But guess what it came out that it was pre-recorded. I was watching GMA on Saturday morning and they were talking about the history of half time shows. They said it used to be marching bands, but everyone got up in their seats and left. Then they brought in Carol Channing..

I think they should bring back the Marching Bands-They could have used Michigan State, or U of Michigan marching bands and they would of blown away the audiences.

My husband thought they sounded pretty bad too.

I think we are just spoiled from the lip synching that is typical for these type of shows. If we were AT the show, I am sure it would have sounded much better.

ITA! The MS or UofM marching bands would have been far better! They are awesome anyway!

And think of the money these marching bands would of received. It probably could pay for 20 college tuitions.

That's fine, as long as they give away the comercials during halftime. I know I would be doing something else. In fact I loved it when other stations would air their own show during halftime.

It would also be better if they just stuck to the normal length of halftime and got on with the game.
