When it is busy, what are the issues? Beach chairs, kids club full... Other issues? Are they a pain?

We are looking into feb 14-20. The 20th is Presidents' Day and I imagine that's a busy week. I am hoping that the 14th-17th aren't quite so bad.

According to what I have heard weekends and local school breaks are very busy. Last week was Fall Break (Columbus Day week) here and we were on the Pride of America cruise. We saw tons of kids on every island. They are back in school this week. It seemed very busy when we arrived last Saturday but less so now. The front desk and valet area are almost always busy from early morning on. Lots of guests from Japan and Australia.
A cast member told me that they had a tour group from Japan last week with their own chartered bus that took them shopping everyday! The tour comes in with the express purpose of going shopping!
The cast members seem to be checking the chairs for belongings especially early in the morning. Some people put items on chairs to 'reserve' them before 8:00! Those items are removed.
I don't know about the kids club but other activities seem to have lots of room.

the presidents' day week is a big week off for schools in the northeast, so the week before might be fine. Hawaii is off mid March, so it won't be school break here.

So, by "Mid March" what dates are you talking about? we're coming March 13-19th....so I guess I'll hit the busy time.

I'm not so much asking what the busy times are, but what problems might arise if it's really busy.

That said, I think we are now looking at early feb.

Break for most schools is the week of March 20 this year.
Thanks buffettgirl!
We are at Aulani the 13th-17th and then going to Waikiki the last 2 nights, we are totally expecting Waikiki to be crazy busy, but hopefully we'll have a little bit of quiet and relaxation while at Aulani.

Maine and Mass have vacation week the third week in Feb. NH has vacation the next week. I don't think there are many times it isn't crowded. Good luck with your trip planning,

It might not be too bad. Most local people don't go to waikiki as it's one of the only places on island where it's harder to find free parking. People go down early to surf, and some do go, but it's not a terribly popular place with locals for sitting on the beach. Waikiki off the beach, in general is always busy as it's got all the stuff there. Like if I want to go to the mall, I go to ala moana. If I want to go out to eat, it's usually down in waikiki. There's just a lot to do there. my husband and I go to waikiki quite often as it's quick for us to get there and we park in military parking, so it's cheap. And there's a good bar at the military hotel ;) But we've noticed a huge difference recently in crowds vs what it was this summer.

I wish we still had military privileges! My DHs first Navy duty station was on Oahu back in 1991! We are staying at Hilton Hawaiian Village for the 2 days and plan to just entertain our 14 year old DD with the beach and the mall!!
